MotoGP GP of Germany – Sachsenring
Vicente Pérez and the Reale Avintia Academy 77 team had a positive opening day at the German Grand Prix. The young Spanish rider had never been at the Sachsenring circuit before and, considering it is his debut weekend in the Moto3 world championship and his debut on this twisty and challenging track at the same time, his performance was very good. He had the pace to stay with the pack of fellow Moto3 riders and he could have been even faster if he hadn’t been slowed by traffic on his best lap.
Vicente Pérez hopes to further improve the set-up of his KTM on Saturday and to be able to fight for a good position on the grid for Sunday’s German GP.
“It was a positive first day, even better than I expected. We improved on every exit. In the end I was a little bit disappointed, because I was about to improve my lap time when another rider got in my line. But we have room to improve tomorrow and I hope to be faster in qualifying. Comparing this bike with the one I was using in the FIM CEV, I can feel the engine is more powerful, but overall the bike feels the same. The circuit is impressive. It’s amazing to watch the track action on TV, but riding the bike is even more spectacular.”
