Reale Avintia Academy 77 Moto3 – GP of Australia – Phillip Island

Reale Avintia Academy 77 rider, Vicente Pérez, finished qualifying practice for the Australian Grand Prix in 21st position.

The conditions for Saturday at Phillip Island were dry, but cloudy and cold temperatures. In FP3, Pérez crashed out in turn 8 and he hit his right shoulder, but after medical checks he was declared fit to ride in qualifying. Vicente was fighting to improve his lap times from yesterday, but today was windy and in more difficult conditions he was just able to set the 21st fastest lap time.

Following the FIM Stewards penalty he got in Motegi last weekend, he will loose six places on the on the grid, so tomorrow he will start the race from the back and he hopes to recover and overtake several riders.

Tomorrow Moto3 warm-up session will start at 10:40am local time, while the 23-laps-race is scheduled for 1pm.

“The day in general was not as expected and I’m a little disappointed because I think we were able to do more. I sincerely think that we had options to fight to be among the top fifteen. Besides not having done well today, tomorrow we will start the race from the last place on the grid due to the sanction I got in Japan. But I’m already thinking about doing a good warm-up tomorrow morning and move forward during the race, because we have a fast bike and strong pace.”
