The Malaysian Grand Prix is already done and dusted and, with it, the 2019 flyaway races. The Reale Avintia Arizona 77 rider, Stefano Nepa, could not finish the race and was forced to retire following a crash.

After achieving a great result in the Australian Grand Prix last week when he finished in the TOP-10, Stefano Nepa has not been able to repeat the high performance in the Sepang International Circuit. Unfortunately, with 12 laps to go, the Reale Avintia Arizona 77 Italian rider crashed in the last corner of the Sepang International Circuit in an action where another rider was involved. Although the Italian picked up his KTM and tried to finish the race, he had to enter in the box to retire.

In two weeks time, the Reale Avintia Arizona 77 will travel to the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Cheste where the 2019 season will come to an end in the GP de la Comunitat Valenciana.

“It has been a pretty good weekend except from the race. We suffered with the set-up on Friday and Saturday but we weren’t so far away and I was relaxed for the race because the pace was good. Unfortunately, at the start, the bike made a wheelie and I lost some positions and when I had to recover, I had to fight with other riders in the back of the group and each lap was crazy. In the fourth or fifth lap I had a contact with another rider on the last corner and he made me crash. Races are like this sometimes, now you have to be focused for the last race. Thanks to the team, my family and the sponsors. See you in Valencia!”

The flyaway races came to an end today with the third and last race of them in the Sepang International Circuit where the Reale Avintia Racing Team did not have its best weekend.

On the one hand, Tito Rabat decided to miss the Gran Prix because of his injured right hand that has been suffering with before the Japanese GP so now he can start the rehab in his hand and arrive in Valencia in the best conditions. On the other hand, Karel Abraham, who started 16th, could not improve his position in a long race where the typical Malaysian heat and humidity where a key factor. The Czech rider crossed the finish line in 17th position and leaves the Malaysian race with no points.

The MotoGP world championship will arrive in Valencia in two weeks time for the 19th and last race of the 2019 season on the score of the Gran Premi de la Comunitat Valenciana.

“It is a shame because I believe we could have fight for the points, we had the pace, a good setup and we were ready. The start was not bad at all but next to me was Mika Kallio, he pushed me a little bit and I went last. The biggest problem was when I tried to overtake the riders and in the last corner Jorge Lorenzo pushed me to the right over the kerbs, I could not stop the bike and I had to go to the gravel and almost stop the bike so I lost a lot of time there. It was a nightmare race because I was racing against myself lap by lap trying to arrive to the riders in front but I just could not make it.”
