Avintia Esponsorama Racing – MotoE Test Jerez 1 – Circuito de Jerez

Avintia Esponsorama Racing team completed the first tests of the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup at the Angel Nieto Jerez Circuit in Spain, where the rain has been a constant and didn’t let the riders perfect track conditions throughout the three days of testing.
Eric Granado shown a fast adaptation to the Energica Ego Corsa machine during these first tests and, the Brazilian rider has always been one of fastest riders in both dry and wet conditions. With a best time of 1’51,842, Granado finished sixth in the combined time sheets and he is looking forward to come back in March to continue working ahead the new FIM Enel MotoE World Cup.
Xavier Simeon has not been able to take part in this first contact with the new class. After the concussion suffered after his crash during Friday’s free practice for the last round of the MotoGP World Championship at Valencia, the Belgian rider suffered complications that prevented him from taking part in the race. Simeon passed new tests in Barcelona and finally couldn’t be on time in Jerez for his MotoE debut. Avintia Esponsorama team is confident that Xavier Simeon will be at 100% for the first MotoE tests of 2019, which will take place again in Jerez, from March 12th to 14th and start the preparations for the new season.
In order to gather more data from the new bike, Avintia Esponsorama team invited Julián Miralles Jr. to the three-day-test. The Spanish rider had his first contact contact with the new world class and helped the team to work on the set-up of the Ego Corsa Energy machine for the upcoming test.

“To be honest, I’m very happy with these three days of testing, I have adapted very quickly and well to the bike. The only negative point was having to share on bike for two riders, because we have had much less time available compared to teams that only have one rider. However, we have used the available track time very well and we have quickly adapted to the bike and the tyres, both in dry and wet conditions. The team did a great job and have been always looking for ideas to improve with a bike that is completely different to everything we are used to. Although in the end it is riden like any motorbike, it is heavy, but also very stable and step by step you get used to it. I’m happy with this first contact, in all the sessions I’ve been out, I finished in the top three and now I will return to Brazil to work hard and get back strong to the next test here in Jerez.”

“It has been a fun and different weekend. The first experience with the new MotoE class has been positive although the weather has not been perfect and we have not had any sessions completely in dry conditions. The good point is that we enjoyed the experience and we gathered a lot of information for the team. Both Eric and I have been quite competitive and we go home with good feelings. I appreciate the opportunity that the team has given me to take part in this test. It has been good and with this experience I’m available in case any team needs me during next season.”

El equipo Avintia Esponsorama Racing ha completado los primeros test de la Copa del Mundo FIM Enel de MotoE en el Circuito Ángel Nieto de Jerez, en los que la lluvia ha sido una constante y no ha permitido a los pilotos disfrutar de condiciones perfectas a lo largo de los tres días.

Eric Granado ha demostrado una rapidísima adaptación a la Energica Ego Corsa durante estos primeros test y, el piloto brasileño ha estado siempre entre los más rápidos tanto en seco, como en mojado. Con un mejor tiempo de 1’51,842, Granado ha terminado sexto en la clasificación combinada y ya está deseando volver a trabajar con el equipo para prepararse al máximo para el inicio de la Copa del Mundo FIM Enel de MotoE.

Xavier Simeon no ha podido participar en esta primera toma de contacto con la categoría. Tras la conmoción cerebral sufrida en los entrenamientos libres para el Gran Premio de Valencia de MotoGP, el piloto belga tuvo complicaciones que le impidieron tomar parte en la carrera. Simeon pasó nuevas pruebas en Barcelona y finalmente no pudo estar Jerez para su estreno en MotoE. El equipo Avintia Esponsorama confía en que Xavier Simeon esté al 100% para los primeros test de MotoE de 2019, que tendrán lugar de nuevo en Jerez, del 12 al 14 de marzo y comenzar a preparar el máximo la nueva temporada.

Con el fin de recabar la mayor información sobre la nueva moto, el equipo Avintia Esponsorama ha contado con Julián Miralles Jr. en estos test. El piloto valenciano ha podido tomar contacto con la categoría y ha ayudado a los técnicos a trabajar en la puesta a punto de la Energica Ego Corsa.

“La verdad es que estoy muy contento con estos tres días de test, me he adaptado muy rápido y bien a la moto. Lo único negativo ha sido tener que compartir moto, porque hemos tenido mucho menos tiempo disponible en comparación con los equipos que solo tienen un piloto. Sin embargo hemos aprovechado muy bien el tiempo y nos hemos adaptado bien a la moto y los neumáticos, tanto en seco como en mojado. El equipo ha hecho un gran trabajo y no ha parado de buscar la manera de mejorar con una moto que es completamente diferente a todo lo que estamos acostumbrados. Aunque al final se pilota como cualquier moto, es pesada, pero también muy estable y poco a poco te vas acostumbrando. Estoy contento de cómo hemos empezado, en todas las tandas que he salido he acabado entre los tres primeros y ahora volveré a Brasil para volver a tope a los próximos test aquí en Jerez.”

La primera experiencia con la nueva categoría de MotoE ha sido positiva aunque el tiempo no nos haya respetado demasiado y no hayamos tenido ninguna sesión completamente en seco. Lo bueno es que hemos disfrutado de la experiencia y hemos sacado bastante información para el equipo. Tanto Eric como yo hemos sido bastante competitivos y nos vamos a casa con buenas sensaciones. Agradezco la oportunidad que me ha dado el equipo de tomar parte en estos entrenamientos. Ha estado bien y estoy disponible por si algún equipo me necesitase la próxima temporada.”

Esponsorama tiene el placer de anunciar sus pilotos para la FIM Enel MotoE World Cup en 2019. Xavier Simeon y Eric Granado serán los encargados de luchar por el primer título de la historia con motos eléctricas, que el próximo año contará con cinco pruebas en distintos circuitos europeos y, donde 18 pilotos competirán con las mismas motos.

Para Xavier Simeon, (29 años) después de un año en MotoGP, será una nueva experiencia en su carrera deportiva. El piloto belga está muy ilusionado y espera dar guerra desde el primer momento.

Eric Granado, con 22 años, es el piloto brasileño con más proyección. Granado cuenta con experiencia en el Campeonato del Mundo en las categorías de Moto3 y Moto2, además se proclamó Campeón de Europa de Moto2 en 2017. Eric es un luchador y seguro que sobre la Energica Ego Corsa, dará un buen espectáculo y luchará por estar delante en cada carrera.

A finales del mes de noviembre tendrán lugar los primeros test oficiales en el circuito de Jerez y, el 5 de mayo, el trazado andaluz acogerá la primera de las cinco carreras que compondrán el calendario de MotoE en 2019. Simeon y Granado competirán después en Le Mans (19 de mayo), Sachsenring (7 de julio), Spielberg (11 de agosto) y Misano (15 de septiembre).

“Creo que sin duda será un paso muy importante en mi carrera deportiva. Sin embargo, me atrae la idea de formar parte del primer campeonato mundial de una nueva generación de motos de competición. Será una experiencia muy diferente, pero a la vez muy excitante. Llevo meses pensando, porque estoy en un momento de mi carrera deportiva en el que es muy importante pensar bien en el futuro. He vivido un año en MotoGP, que no ha sido nada fácil, pero estoy muy contento de formar parte de una nueva aventura en este campeonato y con mi equipo. Tengo ganas de probar y ver qué podemos hacer, porque aunque las motos serán diferentes, el nivel de los pilotos será alto. Pero faltan todavía cinco carreras para terminar la temporada y, de aquí a Valencia, espero sumar algún punto en MotoGP.”

“Antes de nada quiero dar las gracias a Raúl, Bocha y todo el equipo por darme esta oportunidad, me hace muchísima ilusión y no veo la hora de probar la moto por primera vez en Jerez. El Mundial de MotoE es algo nuevo para todos, será un verdadera incógnita cómo funcionará la moto y cómo tendremos que adaptar el pilotaje, pero seguro que con el apoyo de este gran equipo lo haremos bien. MotoE marcará un hito en la historia del motociclismo y estoy encantado de poder formar parte de esta nueva aventura. Estoy preparado para ello y quiero llegar al máximo a los primeros test. Esponsorama Racing MotoE – GP of Japan – Twin Ring Motegi

Esponsorama is pleased to announce their rider line-up for the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup in 2019. Xavier Simeon and Eric Granado will take part in the challenge for the first ever title in the history of motorcycling racing being contested with electric bikes, with five races on different European circuits next year and 18 riders competing with the same machines.

After a year in MotoGP, this will be a completely new experience for Xavi Simeon. The 29-year-old Belgian rider, winner of the German Moto2 Grand Prix 2015, is enthusiastic about this next step in his racing career and he hopes to be competitive and to put up a fight from the first moment on.

Eric Granado is the fastest and popular Brazilian rider and the 22 year-old has previous experience in the World Championship in Moto3 and Moto2 classes. He won the Moto2 European Championship in 2017 and now is racing in Brazil with Honda. Eric is known as a fierce fighter and there is no doubt that he will provide a spectacular show on the Energica Ego Corsa as well.

At the end of November, the first official tests of this class will take place at the Jerez circuit. On May 5th, 2019, Jerez will also host the first of the five races in the MotoE calendar next year. Simeon and Granado will then move on to Le Mans Le Mans (May 19th), Sachsenring (July 7th), Spielberg (August 11th) and Misano (September 15th).

“Without a doubt, this will be an important step in my racing career. I love the idea of being part of the first world championship with a completely new generation of competition bikes. It will be a completely different, but at the same time a very exciting experience. I have been thinking about this change for months, because I am at a stage of my sporting career where it is very important to take the right decisions for the future. I experienced a year in MotoGP, which hasn’t been easy at all, and now I’m very happy to be part of a new adventure in this championship and with my team. I can’t wait to go testing and see what we can achieve, because even though the bikes will be completely different, the level of the riders will be as high as in the other categories. But now, there are still four races to go in the current championship. From here until Valencia, I am determined to keep fighting and working hard with the aim of scoring some points in MotoGP.”
