MotoGP GP of the Americas – COTA

The MotoGP World Championship heads to Austin for the third round of the season in the spectacular Circuit of the Americas this weekend. The Reale Avintia Racing rider, Tito Rabat, arrives in the United States with high motivation after completing his best weekend since he moved up to MotoGP in Argentina. The former Moto2 World Champion hopes to take another step forward in Austin, a track where he struggled in the last two seasons, but he is confident for this weekend following the positive results in the first two races in Qatar and Termas.
For his teammate Xavier Simeon, the Grand Prix of the Americas will be a new opportunity to continue learning and progressing in the MotoGP class. In Argentina on Saturday he was the best rookie in qualifying and, in Texas he hopes to keep improving to fight for the points on Sunday.

“I’m very happy with the way we’ve started the World Championship and I’m extra motivated for the third race of the year in Texas. Austin is a track that I like a lot, has fast, slow curves, straights, hard braking areas and to be honest, it will be a great challenge for me, because the last two years in MotoGP were not very good for me, but I’m confident that with my Ducati I will be much more competitive. We must continue with our feet on the ground and with the same motivation”.

“I arrive in Austin very motivated and eager for the weekend. It’s a track that in the past has always been good for me, but with the Ducati in MotoGP it will be very different. The weekend in Argentina was always better and better and I want to continue in the same line to improve, be closer and closer to the points zone and take every opportunity to continue learning the secrets of the premier class”.

El Campeonato del Mundo de MotoGP llega este fin de semana a Austin para disputar la tercera cita de la temporada en el espectacular Circuito de las Américas. El piloto de Reale Avintia Racing, Tito Rabat, llega a Estados Unidos con la moral por las nubes después de completar en Argentina su mejor fin de semana desde que llegó a MotoGP. El ex campeón del mundo de Moto2 espera dar un paso más en Austin, una pista que en las dos últimas temporadas se le atragantó, pero en la que confía en hacerlo bien siguiendo la línea de trabajo de Qatar y Termas.

Para su compañero Xavier Simeon el Gran Premio de las Américas será una nueva oportunidad de seguir aprendiendo y progresando en la categoría de MotoGP. En Argentina el sábado fue el mejor rookie en los cronometrados y, en Texas espera seguir mejorando para luchar por los puntos el domingo.

“Estoy muy contento por la forma en la que hemos arrancado el Mundial y llego súper motivado a la tercera carrera del año en Texas. Austin es una pista que me gusta mucho, tiene curvas rápidas, lentas, rectas, frenadas muy bestias y la verdad es que es un gran reto para mí, porque los dos años que he corrido en MotoGP no fue muy bien, pero confío en que con mi Ducati podremos ser mucho más competitivos. Hay que seguir con los pies en el suelo y con las mismas ganas”.

“Llego a Austin muy motivado y con muchas ganas. Es una pista que en pasado siempre me ha ido bien, pero con la Ducati de MotoGP será muy diferente. El fin de semana en Argentina fue siempre a más y quiero seguir en la misma línea para mejorar, estar cada vez más cerca de la zona de puntos y aprovechar cada oportunidad para seguir aprendiendo los secretos de la categoría reina”.

El Campionat del Món de MotoGP arriba aquest cap de setmana a Austin per disputar la tercera cita de la temporada en el espectacular Circuit de les Amèriques. El pilot de Reale Avintia Racing, Tito Rabat, arriba als Estats Units amb la moral per els nuvols després de completar a Argentina el seu millor cap de setmana des que va arribar a MotoGP. L’ex campió del món de Moto2 espera donar-se un pas més a Austin, una pista que en les últimes temporades se li havia travat , però en la qual confia en fer-ho bé seguint la línia de treball de Qatar i Termes.

Per al seu company Xavier Simeon, el Gran Premi de les Amèriques serà una nova oportunitat per seguir aprenent i progressant en la categoria de MotoGP. A l’Argentina el dissabte va ser el millor novell en els cronometrats i, a Texas espera seguir millorant per lluitar pels punts el diumenge.

“Estic molt content per la forma en què hem arrencat el Mundial i arribo súper motivat a la tercera carrera de l’any a Texas. Austin és una pista que m’agrada molt, té corbes ràpides, lentes, rectes, bèsties molt bèsties i la veritat és que és un gran repte per a mi, perquè els dos anys que he corregut a MotoGP no van anar molt bé, però confio que amb la meva Ducati podrem ser molt més competitius. Cal seguir amb els peus en el terra i amb les mateixas ganes “.

“Arribo a Austin molt motivat i amb moltes ganes. És una pista que en el passat sempre m’ha anat bé, però amb la Ducati de MotoGP serà molt diferent. El cap de setmana a Argentina va ser a més i vull seguir en la mateixa línia per millorar, està cada vegada més a prop de la zona de punts i aprofitar cada oportunitat per seguir aprenent els secrets de la categoría reina.”

El pilot de l’equip Reale Avintia Racing, Tito Rabat, ha aconseguit avui a l’Argentina el seu millor resultat en carrera des que va debutar en MotoGP. El setè lloc de Rabat ha arribat després d’una gran actuació en els entrenaments lliures i cronometrats que el van portar a començar la cursa des de la quarta posició de la graella. La pluja un cop més ha estat protagonista i la sortida s’ha endarrerit després d’una gran confusió, però això no ha afectat a Tito que ha sortit concentrat i ha aguantat fins al final en una cursa molt complicada amb pneumàtics slick en un circuit que encara tenia moltes zones mullades.

Xavier Simeon, que ahir va ser el millor ‘rookie’ en els cronometrats, avui ha acabat decebut. El pilot belga de Reale Avintia Racing ha sortit bé i estava lluitant pels punts, però s’ha anat recte en el primer terç de la carrera i ja no ha pogut recuperar. Així i tot el cap de setmana ha estat positiu i espera seguir aprenent i progressant en la pròxima carrera a Texas.

“Ha estat un gran cap de setmana i estic molt content amb el treball de l’equip i amb la meva Ducati. Hem fet un gran treball, tercers en sec el divendres, quarts en el crono dissabte i avui he aconseguit el meu millor resultat des que vaig arribar a MotoGP en unes condicions molt complicades. Acabar la cursa ja ha estat un èxit, i acabar tan a prop ha estat fantàstic. També ha estat molt bo poder rodar amb el grup de cap, perquè he vist i après moltíssimes coses. Estic molt content però això no ha fet més que començar, hem de seguir treballant així per millorar encara més en les pròximes carreres, començant per Texas.”

“Amb la cursa només puc dir que estic decebut. He comès un error després de cinc o sis voltes a la recta de darrere que m’ha fet perdre el contacte amb el grup que lluitava pels punts. Em trobava còmode tot i tenir problemes d’adherència al darrere que no em permetien entrar bé als revolts i accelerar com volia. Però he frenat bastant fort en la recta i la moto s’ha aixecat de darrere, he hagut de marxar recte i des d’aquí s’ha acabat la meva carrera. En general estic content amb el cap de setmana, ahir vaig ser el millor ‘rookie’ però avui m’esperava molt més de la cursa. Hem après una nova lliçó, hem d’analitzar bé tot i treballar per millorar en la propera.”

Reale Avintia Racing rider Tito Rabat celebrated his best ever MotoGP result today in Argentina since his debut in the premier class back in 2015. Rabat finished seventh in the race following a great ride in free and qualifying practice that made him start from the fourth place of the grid. Once again, the weather disrupted the action and the start had to be delayed after a big confusion on the grid. But all this didn’t affect Tito, who always stayed focused. He managed to stay on two wheels in a very difficult race riding on slick tyres on a track with many wet patches.

Xavier Simeon, who was the best rookie in qualifying, was disappointed after the race. The Belgian rider of Reale Avintia Racing had a good start and was fighting in a big group for world championship points. But he made a mistake after some laps and lost all his chances. Nevertheless, the weekend was positive for him. He learned a lot and he wants to continue in the same line at the next race in Texas.

“It was a great weekend and I’m extremely happy with the work of my team and the performance of my Ducati. We did a superb job, third on Friday in dry conditions, fourth in qualifying yesterday and today I scored my best result in MotoGP in a very tricky race. Just to finish the race was a success in itself, but being so close to the front was fantastic. It was great to be able to ride in the front group as I saw and learned many things. I’m very happy, but this is only the start. We have to continue to work in the same way and keep improving in the next races.”

“I’m disappointed with the race. I made a mistake after five or six laps on the back straight and I lost contact with the group that was fighting for the points. I felt comfortable even though I was struggling with some grip issues getting the bike into the turns and under acceleration. But I braked very hard and with the carbon brakes I did a stoppie and I had to go long to avoid crashing. From then my race was finished. But overall I’m happy with this weekend. Yesterday I was the best rookie in qualifying, but today I expected more from the race. We learnt a lesson and now we have to analyse what happened and work harder for the next race.”

El piloto del equipo Reale Avintia Racing, Tito Rabat, ha conseguido hoy en Argentina su mejor resultado en carrera desde que debutó en MotoGP. El séptimo puesto de Rabat ha llegado después de una gran actuación en los entrenamientos libres y cronometrados que le llevaron a empezar la carrera desde la cuarta posición de la parrilla. La lluvia una vez más ha sido protagonista y la salida se ha retrasado tras una gran confusión, pero eso no ha afectado a Tito que ha salido concentrado y ha aguantado hasta el final en una carrera muy complicada con neumáticos slick en un circuito que todavía tenía muchas zonas mojadas.

Xavier Simeon, que ayer fue el mejor ‘rookie’ en los cronometrados, hoy ha terminado decepcionado. El piloto belga de Reale Avintia Racing ha salido bien y estaba peleando por los puntos, pero se ha ido recto en el primer tercio de la carrera y ya no ha podido recuperar. Aun así el fin de semana ha sido positivo y espera seguir aprendiendo y progresando en la próxima carrera en Texas.

“Ha sido un gran fin de semana y estoy muy contento con el trabajo del equipo y con mi Ducati. Hemos hecho un gran trabajo, terceros en seco el viernes, cuartos en el crono el sábado y hoy he conseguido mi mejor resultado desde que llegué a MotoGP en unas condiciones muy complicadas. Acabar la carrera ya ha sido un logro, y terminar tan cerca ha sido fantástico. También ha sido muy bueno poder rodar con el grupo de cabeza, porque he visto y aprendido muchísimas cosas. Estoy muy contento pero esto no ha hecho más que empezar, tenemos que seguir trabajando así para mejorar aún más en las próximas carreras, empezando por Texas.”

“Con la carrera solo puedo decir que estoy decepcionado. He cometido un error después de cinco o seis vueltas en la recta de atrás que me ha hecho perder el contacto con el grupo que luchaba por los puntos. Me encontraba cómodo a pesar de tener problemas de agarre detrás que no me permitían entrar bien en las curvas y acelerar cómo quería. Pero he frenado bastante fuerte en la recta y la moto se ha levantado de atrás, he tenido que irme recto y desde ahí se ha terminado mi carrera. En general estoy contento con el fin de semana, ayer fui el mejor ‘rookie’ pero hoy me esperaba mucho más de la carrera. Hemos aprendido una nueva lección, tenemos que analizar bien todo y trabajar para mejorar en la próxima.”

El pilot de l’equip Reale Avintia Racing, Tito Rabat, ha aconseguit avui a l’Argentina el seu millor lloc en una sessió d’entrenaments cronometrats des que va arribar a MotoGP. Després de passar directe a la Q2 amb el quart lloc d’ahir, l’ex campió del món de Moto2 a 2014 ha repetit posició i demà obrirà la segona línia de la graella al costat dels seus compatriotes Àlex Rins i Marc Márquez.

Les condicions no han estat fàcils i la pista no estava ni per sortir amb els Michelin d’aigua, ni tampoc amb els de sec. El més important és que Rabat ha anat ràpid en sec i també en condicions mixtes amb pneumàtics d’aigua, però com ha dit Tito, passi el que passi estem preparats.

Per al belga Xavier Simeon també ha estat un dia molt bo. El pilot de Reale Avintia ha estat el millor ‘rookie’ en unes condicions molt complicades per a un pilot sense experiència en MotoGP. Simeon sortirà demà 17o per davant de la resta de novells en la categoria reina i espera poder acabar també davant en la carrera i inaugurar el seu caseller de punts en el campionat.

“Ha faltat molt poc per estar a la primera línia, però el quart lloc és molt més del que m’esperava. Estic molt content amb la Ducati, amb l’equip i ara mateix estic feliç. Hem fet dos dies boníssims i gairebé no em ho puc creure. Però com vaig dir ahir la cursa és el diumenge, hem de tocar de peus a terra i estar concentrats per intentar fer-ho igual de bé. Avui he de relaxar-me i pensar en la cursa, el positiu és que hem anat ràpid en sec i també en mullat, així que estem preparats pel que vingui.”

“Ha estat un dia estrany però al final ha estat positiu. Hem fet un pas que volíem donar durant tota la pretemporada i avui ho hem aconseguit. Les sensacions que he tingut avui sobre de la moto han estat molt bones, però no hem aconseguit passar a la Q2. Tot i així estic molt content amb el que hem sentit en pluja. Demà intentaré gaudir de la mateixa manera que ho estic fent durant tot el cap de setmana, independentment de si la carrera és en pluja o en mullat. “

In qualifying for the Grand Prix of Argentina, Reale Avintia Racing team rider Tito Rabat achieved his best position since his debut in MotoGP. “We were close to finish on the front row, but even fourth place is much more than I expected. I’m very happy with the Ducati, with the team and right now things couldn’t be better. We had two great days here and I almost can’t believe what we achieved. But the race is on Sunday, we must keep our feet on the ground and stay focused in order to do as well as today and yesterday. Tonight I have to relax and think about the race. It’s good that we went fast in dry and also in wet conditions, so we are ready for whatever the weather will bring.”

“It has been a strange day, but in the end it has been positive. We were able to make this step forward that we were hoping to do since I started riding this bike. The feelings today on the bike have been very good, but we didn’t manage to go to Q2. Nevertheless I’m very happy with my feeling in wet conditions. Tomorrow I’ll try to enjoy riding the same way I have done during this weekend so far, regardless of the weather conditions.”

El piloto del equipo Reale Avintia Racing, Tito Rabat, ha conseguido hoy en Argentina su mejor puesto en una sesión de entrenamientos cronometrados desde que llegó a MotoGP. Tras pasar directo a la Q2 con el cuarto puesto de ayer, el ex campeón del mundo de 2014 ha repetido posición y mañana saldrá desde la segunda línea de la parrilla junto a sus compatriotas Álex Rins y Marc Márquez.

Las condiciones no han sido fáciles y la pista no estaba ni para salir con los Michelin de agua, ni tampoco con los de seco. Lo más importante es que Rabat ha ido rápido en seco y también en condiciones mixtas con neumáticos de agua, pero como ha dicho Tito, pase lo que pase estamos preparados.

Para el belga Xavier Simeon también ha sido un día muy bueno. El piloto de Reale Avintia ha sido el mejor ‘rookie’ en unas condiciones muy complicadas para un piloto sin experiencia en MotoGP. Simeon saldrá mañana 17º por delante del resto de novatos en la categoría reina y espera poder terminar también delante en la carrera e inaugurar su casillero de puntos en el campeonato.

“Ha faltado muy poco para estar en la primera línea, pero el cuarto puesto es mucho más de lo que me esperaba. Estoy muy contento con la Ducati, con el equipo y ahora mismo estoy feliz. Hemos hecho dos días buenísimos y casi no me lo puedo creer. Pero como dije ayer la carrera es el domingo, debemos tener los pies en el suelo y estar concentrados para tratar de hacerlo igual de bien. Hoy tengo que relajarme y pensar en la carrera, lo positivo es que hemos ido rápido en seco y también en mojado, así que estamos preparados para lo que venga.”

“Ha sido un día raro pero al final ha sido positivo. Hemos dado un paso que queríamos dar durante toda la pretemporada y hoy lo hemos conseguido. Las sensaciones que he tenido hoy encima de la moto han sido muy buenas, pero no hemos conseguido pasar a la Q2. Aún así estoy muy contento con lo que hemos sentido en lluvia. Mañana intentaré disfrutar al igual que lo estoy haciendo durante todo el fin de semana, independientemente de si la carrera es en lluvia o en mojado.”

Reale Avintia Racing team rider Tito Rabat had a rocket start on the opening free practice day at the circuit of Termas de Río Hondo. The Spaniard finished the day with the fourth fastest lap time in the combined standings and, most importantly, had very good feelings riding his Ducati GP17 around the Argentinian track. Rabat stayed calm in the morning, when the conditions of the track were dubious due to a layer of dust. In the afternoon, everything was delayed due to a brief rain shower. When the track had dried up again, Rabat ignored the wind gusts that had started to blow across the track and pushed hard to finish the first day as the fastest Ducati rider in fourth place.
The first day at Termas was also positive for his teammate Xavier Simeon. Even though his position in the time sheets doesn’t reflect it, the Belgian MotoGP ‘rookie’ improved his feelings with the Ducati and made another step towards finding a natural riding style. In the morning, he classified ahead of some other MotoGP rookies, but in the afternoon he couldn’t improve his pace due to the rain and the shortened track time.

“We had a great first day. We found a strong pace and also put in a fast lap time. In the first practice session, the track was a little dirty, but this afternoon, the conditions were almost perfect for me. Every day I feel better with the Ducati and with my team. Now we have to focus on qualifying tomorrow, because I want to improve further and get a good position on the grid for Sunday’s race. We mainly have to work on tyre life and we will also try to go a little faster.”

“This morning was very good for me and I was very happy with the feeling I had riding the bike, I tried to take the pressure off a bit, to ride with my instinct and to use all I’ve learned in Qatar, and to be honest, I enjoyed this a lot. This afternoon, the conditions were a bit more difficult, because the tarmac lost grip due to the rain. We waited for the track to dry up, but with less track time, it was harder to improve my pace. In the end, my lap time was the same as in the morning, but the feelings were worse because the track felt greasy after the rain. Overall I think that we made a step forward compared to Qatar and this is the most positive thing for me.”
