MotoGP GP of Qatar – Losail International Circuit

Wind and sand played a starring role on the second day of practice for the Grand Prix of Qatar. Due to the conditions during FP3, it was very difficult for the Reale Avintia Racing riders to improve. But neither Tito Rabat nor Xavier Simeon threw the towel. Instead, they continued to work hard with their crews to be ready for the first race of the season.
The former Moto2 World Champion will rely on his race pace that should be strong enough to fight for the top ten in the first Grand Prix of the year. He has his mind set about the bike set-up and tyre choice and looks forward to his race debut with the Reale Avintia Racing and his Ducati GP17.
For ‘rookie’ Simeon the day went better than yesterday. He finished at the back of the grid again, but was very close to the riders in front of him. He also has the pace to be put up a fight and recover some places in the 22 lap-race tomorrow, his first ever race in the premier class.

“Today has been a difficult day for us, but were able to get really good conclusions for tomorrow’s race. After crashing during FP3, I lost my concentration a bit, but afterwards we managed to work well. In qualifying, we should have been some tenths of a second faster to achieve the position we hoped for. But we have found a good set-up for the bike and now it’s time to be focused for the race. The key to the race will be a good start, which would give me the chance to fight and maybe to start the season with a top ten result”.

“Qualifying was much better than free practice yesterday. With the changes we made on the bike, my feeling has definitely improved. But I’m frustrated, because I expected to go faster than in the test and in the end I didn’t. In real race weekend conditions, with very limited time and only a few laps, you have to find your pace very quickly and you can’t waste any time. I have to work hard to get ready for a good lap time and to get the best out of what we have. Anyway, with used tyres, I found a good rhythm in FP4. I hope that this will enable me to ride a good race tomorrow”.

MotoGP GP de Qatar – Losail International Circuit

El viento y la arena han sido protagonistas en el segundo día de entrenamientos del Gran Premio de Qatar. Durante el FP3 ha sido muy complicado mejorar para los pilotos del Reale Avintia Racing. Pero ni Tito Rabat, ni Xavier Simeon han tirado la toalla y han seguido trabajando duro para llegar preparados a la primera carrera de la temporada.

El ex campeón del mundo de Moto2 confía en su ritmo de carrera para poder estar luchando por las diez primeras plazas en el primer Gran Premio del año. Tiene clara la puesta a punto, los neumáticos y está deseando debutar con el Reale Avintia Racing y su Ducati GP17.

Para el ‘rookie’ Simeon el día ha ido mejor. Ha terminado otra vez atrás, pero muy cerca de sus rivales y tiene ritmo para poder luchar por recuperar posiciones en la carrera a 22 vueltas de mañana, su primera en la categoría reina.

“Hoy ha sido un día un poco difícil para nosotros, pero nos ha hecho sacar buenas conclusiones para la carrera de mañana. Con la caída en el FP3 he perdido un poco la concentración, pero después hemos conseguido trabajar bien. En los cronometrados nos ha faltado recortar alguna décima para haber podido estar en una posición correcta, pero hemos dado con una buena puesta a punto para la moto y ahora toca estar centrados para mañana. La clave de la carrera será hacer una buena salida para poder optar a luchar por acabar entre los diez primeros”.

“La calificación ha ido mucho mejor que ayer. Las sensaciones han mejorado con los cambios que se han hecho hoy. Pero estoy un poco frustrado porque me esperaba rodar más rápido que en el test y al final no lo he conseguido. En condiciones reales del fin de semana, con muy pocas vueltas, hay que tener un ritmo más rápido y no hay que perder el tiempo. Tengo que trabajar mucho en estar listo para hacer un buen tiempo en el momento justo y sacar lo mejor de lo que tenemos. De todas formas, con neumáticos usados, he hecho un ritmo en el FP4 bastante bueno y creo que con esto podré hacer una buena carrera mañana”.

MotoGP GP de Qatar – Losail International Circuit

El Campionat del Món de MotoGP 2018 ha començat avui al Circuit Internacional de Losail amb els primers entrenaments lliures de la temporada. El pilot espanyol de l’equip Reale Avintia Racing, Tito Rabat, ha començat molt fort. En la primera sessió de 45 minuts ha aconseguit entrar en el Top 10, però en el FP2, tot i millorar la seva millor volta en més de set dècimes de segon,

només li han faltat unes dècimes per poder passar el tall. Demà confia a poder donar un altre pas en el FP3 i passar directe a la Q2.
El seu company Xavier Simeon ha patit una mica per trobar el ritme en només dues sessions lliures, però el belga té clar que és el seu primer cap de setmana en MotoGP i no està preocupat. Encara té molt per aprendre i avui ha tingut una nova lliçó.

“M’he trobat molt bé i immediatament hem rodat més ràpid i amb bones sensacions. Hem fet diversos canvis en la posada a punt de la moto que m’han agradat molt i crec que per ser el primer dia no podem demanar més. Ens han faltat unes dècimes per passar a la Q2, però demà tindrem una altra oportunitat i apretarem al màxim per aconseguir-ho. però la veritat és que estem fent una bona feina i confio en poder aconseguir-ho, l’equip m’està ajudant molt i tinc un gran ‘feeling’ amb la moto”.

“Avui no he aconseguit trobar les mateixes sensacions que en el test, però no és una cosa que em preocupi i sabem el que hem de fer a partir d’ara. Ha estat el primer dia en condicions reals i es veu que amb només dues sessions de 45 minuts cal agafar ritme molt més ràpid i això és el que més m’ha costat avui. Hem de treballar per poder millorar la frenada i el punt en què cal tirar la moto, però sobretot m’he de concentrar en sortir i rodar ràpid des del principi per ser més competitiu. Això és el que intentarem demà”.

MotoGP GP de Qatar – Losail International Circuit

El Campeonato del Mundo de MotoGP 2018 ha comenzado hoy en el Circuito Internacional de Losail con los primeros entrenamientos libres de la temporada. El piloto español del equipo Reale Avintia Racing, Tito Rabat, ha comenzado muy fuerte. En la primera sesión de 45 minutos ha conseguido entrar en el Top 10, pero en el FP2, a pesar de mejorar su mejor vuelta en más de siete décimas de segundo, solo le han faltado unas décimas para poder pasar el corte. Mañana confía en poder dar otro paso en el FP3 y pasar directo a la Q2.

Su compañero Xavier Simeon ha sufrido un poco para encontrar el ritmo en solo dos sesiones libres, pero el belga tiene claro que es su primer fin de semana en MotoGP y no está preocupado. Todavía tiene mucho que aprender y hoy ha tenido una nueva lección.

“Me he encontrado muy bien y de inmediato hemos rodado más rápido y con buenas sensaciones. Hemos realizado varios cambios en la puesta a punto de la moto que me han gustado mucho y creo que para ser el primer día no podemos pedir más. Nos han faltado unas décimas para pasar a la Q2, pero mañana tendremos otra oportunidad y apretaremos al máximo para conseguirlo. Pero la verdad es que estamos haciendo un buen trabajo y confío en poder lograrlo, el equipo me está ayudando mucho y tengo un gran ‘feeling’ con la moto”.

“Hoy no he conseguido encontrar las mismas sensaciones que en el test, pero no es algo que me preocupe y sabemos lo que tenemos que hacer a partir de ahora. Ha sido el primer día en condiciones reales y se ve que con solo dos sesiones de 45 minutos hay que coger ritmo mucho más rápido y eso es lo que más me ha costado hoy. Tenemos que trabajar para poder mejorar la frenada y el punto en el que hay que tirar la moto, pero sobre todo me tengo que concentrar en salir y rodar rápido desde el principio para ser más competitivo. Eso es lo que intentaremos mañana”.

MotoGP GP of Qatar – Losail International Circuit

The 2018 MotoGP World Championship started today under the floodlights of the Losail International Circuit. Spanish Reale Avintia Racing rider Tito Rabat, found a very strong rhythm immediately and finished the first session of 45 in the top 10. But in FP2, he couldn’t maintain his position, even though he improved his best lap time by more than seven tenths of a second. Tomorrow he hopes to take another step in FP3 and go straight to Q2.
His teammate Xavier Simeon took too much time to find the pace during the free practice sessions. But he is not worried, because he is conscious about the fact that this is only his first weekend in MotoGP. He still has a lot to learn and today was a valuable lesson.

“I felt very good today and I was immediately faster. We made several changes to the set-up of the bike that I liked a lot and I think that considering it was just the first day, we can’t ask for more. We missed Q2 by just a few tenths, but tomorrow we’ll have another chance and we’ll push hard to use it. To be honest, I think that we are doing a good job and I’m confident about tomorrow. The team is helping me a lot and I have a great feeling with the bike”.

“Today I didn’t have the same feelings that I had during the test, but this doesn’t worry me too much sine we know what we have to do next. It was the first day in real Grand Prix conditions and we could see that with just two 45-minute sessions, I have to be on the pace much faster and that’s what cost me the most today. We need to improve braking and the point where lean the bike into the corner, but above all I have to concentrate on going out and go fast from the start. That’s what we will try tomorrow”.

Presentació – Reale Seguros (Madrid)

L’equip Reale Avintia Racing amb els seus pilots de MotoGP al capdavant, Tito Rabat i Xavier Simeon, ha presentat avui a la seu de Reale Seguros a Madrid el seu ambiciós projecte esportiu per a la temporada 2018. Un projecte que comença amb l’European Talent Cup, passant pel World Junior Cup FIM CEV de Moto3 i Moto2 i culmina en MotoGP, Reale Avintia Racing estarà present en totes les categories, de la base al cim, del motociclisme de velocitat.

La presentadora Ainhoa Arbizu ha estat l’encarregada de conduir l’acte que, també ha comptat amb la presència de la resta de pilots de l’equip. Al costat de Tito Rabat i Xavi Simeon, han pujat a l’escenari, el belga Livio Loi, que competirà en el Campionat del Món de Moto3 amb KTM, els nois del FIM CEV amb Vicente Pérez, Andreas Pérez i l’italià Andrea Cavaliere, a més dels petits de l’European Talent Cup amb Carlos Tatay, Adrían Huertas i Iker García Abella. No ha pogut assistir Barry Baltus en no poder saltar-se el col·legi i tampoc Xavi Cardelus, qui defensarà els colors de l’equip en el FIM CEV de Moto2 i participarà en diverses proves del Mundial de Moto2 aquesta temporada. No podia falta el propietari de l’escuderia Raúl Romero, així com els consellers delegats de Reale Seguros i el Grup Avintia, Ignacio Mariscal i Antonio Martín, que han acompanyat els pilots per desvetllar la nova decoració de les motos, les autèntiques protagonistes d’aquesta presentació.

“La presentació ha anat bé i la nova decoració de la moto és una passada. Ja estem preparats per començar el Mundial a Qatar la setmana que ve i no veig l’hora de començar els primers entrenaments lliures. En aquest equip em trobo a casa i des del primer moment m’ha agradat molt la meva Ducati GP17. Ara només toca esperar que s’apagui el semàfor vermell a Qatar”.

“La pretemporada ha anat molt bé i he pogut aprendre moltes coses de MotoGP gràcies a l’equip. La nova moto és molt bonica i la presentació de l’equip ha estat a l’altura del projecte. En uns dies ja estarem a Qatar sota els focus i llavors començarà el bo. L’important és que estem preparats per començar i donar molt gas”.

“Estic molt content per com ha anat la pretemporada. El temps no ens ha acompanyat tot el que ens hauria agradat, però crec que arribem preparats a Qatar. L’equip és molt professional i jo m’he adaptat bastant ràpid a la KTM. En uns dies veurem realment on som i fins on podem arribar”.

Team presentation – Reale Seguros (Madrid)

Reale Avintia Racing team presented its ambitious project today at the headquarters of Reale Seguros in Madrid. Reale Avintia project, has its edge in MotoGP with Tito Rabat, Xavi Simeon and Ducati, but this great project with the European Talent Cup, going through the Moto3 and Moto2 World Junior Cup FIM CEV and culminates in the premier class, MotoGP. In this team I’m at home and from the first moment I really had good feelings riding my Ducati GP17. Now we just have to wait for the red light to go out in Qatar”.

“The preseason has gone very well and I have been able to learn many things about MotoGP thanks to the team. The new bike is beautiful and the team launch has been great. In a few days we will be in Qatar under the floodlights and then the serious part will begin. The important thing is that we are ready to start and give a lot of gas”.

“I’m very happy with how the winter testing has gone. The weather has not accompanied us as much as we would liked but, I think we arrived ready to Qatar. The team is very professional and I have adapted quite quickly to the KTM. In a few days we will really see where we are and how far we can go”.

El equipo Reale Avintia Racing con sus pilotos de MotoGP a la cabeza, Tito Rabat y Xavier Simeon, ha presentado hoy en la sede de Reale Seguros en Madrid su ambicioso proyecto deportivo para la temporada 2018. Un proyecto que comienza con la European Talent Cup, pasando por el World Junior Cup FIM CEV de Moto3 y Moto2 y culmina en MotoGP, Reale Avintia Racing estará presente en todas las categorías, de la base a la cima, del motociclismo de velocidad.

La presentadora Ainhoa Arbizu ha sido la encargada de conducir el acto que, también ha contado con la presencia del resto de pilotos del equipo. Junto a Tito Rabat y Xavi Simeon, han subido al escenario, el belga Livio Loi, que competirá en el Campeonato del Mundo de Moto3 con KTM, los chicos del FIM CEV con Vicente Pérez, Andreas Pérez y el italiano Andrea Cavaliere, además de los pequeños de la European Talent Cup con Carlos Tatay, Adrían Huertas e Iker García Abella. “La presentación ha ido bien y la nueva decoración de la moto es una pasada. Ya estamos listos para empezar el Mundial en Qatar la próxima semana y no veo la hora de empezar los primeros entrenamientos libres. En este equipo me encuentro en casa y desde el primer momento me ha gustado mucho mi Ducati GP17. Ahora solo toca esperar a que se apague el semáforo rojo en Qatar”.

“La pretemporada ha ido muy bien y he podido aprender muchas cosas de MotoGP gracias al equipo. La nueva moto es muy bonita y la presentación del equipo ha estado a la altura del proyecto. En unos días ya estaremos en Qatar bajo los focos y entonces comenzará lo bueno. Lo importante es que estamos listos para empezar y dar mucho gas”.

“Estoy muy contento por cómo ha ido la pretemporada. El tiempo no nos ha acompañado todo lo que nos hubiera gustado, pero creo que llegamos preparados a Qatar. El equipo es muy profesional y yo me he adaptado bastante rápido a la KTM. En unos días veremos realmente dónde estamos y hasta dónde podemos llegar”.

MotoGP Thai Test – Chang International Circuit

Reale Avintia Racing team riders Tito Rabat and Xavier Simeon finished the three-day test at the Chang International Circuit with very positive feelings. The Spaniard all but solved his lack of confidence with the front end of his bike and in the next test in Qatar he hopes to have new parts from Ducati that should help him to make another step forward.
The former Moto2 World Champion enjoyed riding the bike at Buriram and he finished again very close to the fastest riders. His smile at the end of the test was the best proof that everything is going well and that he can be fighting for good results with Reale Avintia in 2018.
For Xavi Simeón it was not so easy, but after the issues from the second day, he was able to improvement today. The Belgian rider has a lot to learn in the premier class and he also has to continue to work on his riding style, to deepen his understanding of the bike and the tyres.
Rabat and Simeon now have a couple of weeks to prepare for the final winter test of 2018, which takes place in Qatar from March 1 to 3.

“I’m very happy because all three days have been very positive and we managed to be more competitive. From the first test last year, we had a problem with the front end of the bike that didn’t let me push to the maximum and I was crashing in the fast turns losing the front, but little by little we have found a way to improve and now at least I don’t crash like that any more. Nevertheless, we have to keep working to be more confident in the fast corners and, with the help of Ducati, in Qatar I hope to take another step in this way to continue gaining confidence. The team has done an incredible job once again and helped me a lot to improve. Now it’s time to charge the batteries for the last test of the pre-season”.

“The last day was better, not much better, but enough for me. Overall I’ve improved a lot with used tyres and it’s clear that we still need to work to understand the tyres, because I’m struggling in that area. It was a bit frustrating because every time I went out with new tyres, I didn’t make the jump we expected. But with a 25-lap tyre I was doing my best lap times. That’s why I have to understand how the Michelins tyres work. Due to the layout of this track, it is important not to force the tyre too much in some turns and the opposite goes for some other turns. I still don’t have enough confidence with the bike to ride at the maximum on this track, but overall the test has been positive and we got very good conclusions. Not having improved as much as I expected also has its positive side, because it makes me see that MotoGP is a very difficult class”.

MotoGP Test Qatar – Losail International Circuit

El último test de la pretemporada ha terminado hoy en el Circuito Internacional de Losail y los pilotos del equipo Reale Avintia Racing, Tito Rabat y Xavier Simeon, ya están preparados para empezar el nuevo campeonato dentro de dos semanas en este mismo escenario.

Aparte de eso, Rabat y Simeon han terminado satisfechos con el trabajo realizado en estos días y ambos ya están deseando regresar a Losail para empezar el primer fin de semana de carreras del año. Los deberes están hechos y en dos semanas empieza lo bueno.

El español ha vuelto a mejorar su ritmo de carrera y, aunque ha mejorado su vuelta rápida, también sus rivales han rodado más rápido en la última jornada y ha terminado el test 19º a 1.4 segundos del primero. Hay que seguir trabajando en la vuelta rápida, pero Rabat confía en que con su ritmo, la carrera en 15 días será muy diferente.

Su compañero Xavi Simeon también ha dado un gran paso con el ritmo y su vuelta rápida hoy, lástima que cuando más confianza tenía y venía apretando con los neumáticos blandos de Michelin se ha caído en la curva 15. Aun así el ‘rookie’ en MotoGP está contento y deseando debutar en este mismo circuito dentro de dos semanas.

Hoy además los pilotos han terminado con una prueba inédita en Qatar y, los 24 que componen la parrilla de MotoGP han rodado durante los 30 últimos minutos de la sesión con el asfalto mojado y bajo los miles de focos que iluminan el trazado qatarí. Las sensaciones han sido positivas.

“Ha sido un test muy bueno porque sobre todo en lo que respecta al ritmo de carrera creo que estamos muy bien, pero sinceramente, en la vuelta rápida todavía nos faltan unas décimas para estar entre los diez primeros. Son tres o cuatro décimas y trabajando seguro que llegaremos. Hemos trabajado muy bien; hemos completado un día bueno, ahora a concentrarse para la carrera. Tengo muchas ganas de empezar; hace mucho tiempo que no corremos y queremos que esto arranque y que vaya bien, que es importante”.

“Hoy estoy muy contento con las sensaciones, hemos mejorado bastante mi feeling encima de moto y voy a conducir de manera mucho más eficaz. Estoy muy satisfecho con el ritmo; al final cuando hemos montado neumático nuevo, no he aprovechado el “time attack”. Comparado con el resto de pilotos, aún me falta mejorar bastante en este sentido, pero muy contento con el ritmo. Cuando salgo a pista, ahora hago 56 bajos , incluso con neumáticos usados; esto es muy buena señal. Hoy realmente me he divertido encima de la moto. Ahora empiezo a entender más todo, a pilotar de forma más natural. Ahora empiezan las cosas serias. No me pongo más presión de lo normal; intentaré seguir la línea de ir progresando. Si consigo seguir la misma dinámica que en este test podremos hacer un buen fin de semana en el GP”.
