The forecasted heavy rains finally arrived today at the Losail International Circuit and the qualifying sessions in all three classes were cancelled due to the track conditions. Tomorrow’s Qatar Grand Prix starting grid is now based on the combined standings from yesterday’s practice sessions, with Reale Avintia Racing riders Loris Baz and Hector Barbera in 14^th and 20^th position.

During the evening, the organization tried everything they could to keep the Grand Prix program running as scheduled, but although some parts of the track were completely dry, there was a lot of water in several other areas of the 5,4km circuit. Finally, the Race Direction made the decision to cancel the Qualifying Practice in all three classes.

“There is not much to say about today. We spent the evening waiting for the news of the Race Direction, but finally it was not possible to go out, neither in wet or dry conditions. I think they have made the best decision. The track was not in good conditions to ride our bikes and we will see what happens tomorrow.”

“It’s a pity because for me it would have been important to be on the bike today. I lost the three-day test because of my injury and it would have helped to do more kilometres on this track before the race. But it was dangerous to go out in these conditions, and safety comes first. So we have to accept the decision of the Race Direction.”

La lluvia finalmente ha llegado hoy al Circuito Internacional del Losail y las sesiones cronometradas de las tres categorías se han cancelado debido a las malas condiciones de la pista. La parrilla para el Gran Premio de Qatar de mañana se ha basado en las posiciones de la combinada de tiempos de las sesiones libres de ayer, por lo que los pilotos del equipo Reale Avintia Racing, Loris Baz y Héctor Barberá saldrán desde la 14ª y 20ª posición, respectivamente.

Durante la tarde la organización ha hecho lo imposible para que el programa del Gran Premio siguiera adelante, pero aunque algunas partes del circuito de 5.4km estaban completamente secas, había otras zonas húmedas y otras completamente encharcadas. Al final la Dirección de Carrera ha decidido cancelar todos las sesiones cronometradas.

“Hoy no hay mucho que contar. Hemos pasado la mayor parte de la tarde esperando noticias de Dirección de Carrera, pero al final no ha sido posible salir, ni en mojado, ni en seco. Pienso que han tomado la mejor decisión. El circuito no estaba en condiciones para rodar con nuestras motos. Veremos qué pasa mañana.”

“Es una pena no haber podido rodar hoy porque para mí era importante. Ya me perdí los tres días de test por la lesión y me habría venido fenomenal hacer más kilómetros en esta pista antes de la carrera. Pero era peligroso salir en esas condiciones, y la seguridad es lo primero. Así que tenemos que aceptar la decisión de Dirección de Carrera.”

Los pilotos del equipo Reale Avintia Racing, Héctor Barberá y Loris Baz han seguido trabajando en la puesta a punto de sus Ducati en el segundo día de entrenamientos libres en el Circuito Internacional de Losail. Tras una fuerte tormenta caída antes de comenzar la acción en pista, el asfalto del circuito qatarí ha vuelto a cambiar y los reglajes que ayer funcionaron, hoy no han servido como referencia.

Ninguno de los dos pilotos ha conseguido mejorar sus registros del primer día y han perdido algunas posiciones. Loris Baz ha bajado del sexto puesto de ayer hasta el 14º, tras lograr una mejor vuelta de 1’56.501 en el FP2. Héctor Barberá, que sigue teniendo molestias en su clavícula izquierda, operada hace menos de un mes, tampoco ha conseguido mejorar con respecto al primer día y hoy su mejor vuelta ha sido en 1’56.934.

Mañana ambos pilotos esperan mejorar sus sensaciones durante el último entrenamiento libre del fin de semana, para tratar de hacer una vuelta rápida el la Q1, que les permita dar un salto, aunque todo apunta a que será una sesión muy disputada.

“La pista aquí cambia mucho de un día al otro. Ha llovido esta tarde y además ha hecho mucho viento que ha dejado mucha arena en el circuito. Teníamos que cambiar un poco la puesta a punto de la moto y también el estilo para adaptarse, y no lo hemos hecho tan bien como los demás. Pero al final tampoco ha ido mal, los tiempos con neumáticos de carrera son bastante buenos. Además hoy no hemos podido usar la blanda delante como en los test, lo que nos ha complicado las cosas un poco más, porque tenemos que adaptar la moto a este neumático, y en eso trabajaremos mañana. Al final he apretado para intentar mejorar el tiempo de ayer, pero en un movimiento brusco de la moto me ha saltado el airbag del mono y no ha podido terminar la vuelta.”

“Ha sido un día complicado, se están poniendo las cosas más difíciles de la cuenta. Quizás vamos retrasados con respecto a los demás, pero no acabo de encontrarme cómodo encima de la moto, me voy peleando con ella en cada vuelta y por eso estamos a más de dos segundos del tiempo. Tenemos que seguir trabajando porque el resultado no es bueno. La clavícula me produce molestias, quizás me hace ir con más precaución y me cuesta un poquito más, pero el límite no está siendo la clavícula, sino la falta de kilómetros en esta pista. Mañana intentaremos mejorar la moto en el FP4 para tratar de hacer la mejor vuelta posible en los cronometrados. Cuando las cosas se ponen complicadas siempre cuesta más, pero vamos a seguir trabajando duro.”

Els pilots de l’equip Reale Avintia Racing, Héctor Barberá i Loris Baz han seguit treballant en la posada a punt de les seves Ducati en el segon dia d’entrenaments lliures al Circuit Internacional de Losail. Després d’una forta tempesta caiguda abans de començar l’acció en pista, l’asfalt del circuit de Qatar ha tornat a canviar i els reglatges que ahir van funcionar, avui no han servit com a referència.

Cap dels dos pilots ha aconseguit millorar els seus registres del primer dia i han perdut algunes posicions. Loris Baz ha baixat del sisè lloc d’ahir fins al 14è, després d’aconseguir una millor volta de 1’56.501 al FP2. Héctor Barberá, que segueix tenint molèsties a la clavícula esquerra, operada fa menys d’un mes, tampoc ha aconseguit millorar respecte al primer dia i avui la seva millor volta ha estat en 1’56.934.

Demà els dos pilots esperen millorar les seves sensacions durant l’últim entrenament lliure del cap de setmana, per tractar de fer una volta ràpida al la Q1, que els permeti donar un salt, encara que tot apunta que serà una sessió molt disputada.

“La pista aquí canvia molt d’un dia a l’altre. Ha plogut aquesta tarda i a més ha fet molt de vent que ha deixat molta sorra al circuit. Havíem de canviar una mica la posada a punt de la moto i també l’estil per adaptar-se, i no ho hem fet tan bé com els altres. Però al final tampoc ha anat malament, els temps amb pneumàtics de carrera són prou bons. a més avui no hem pogut fer servir la tova davant com en els test, el que ens ha complicat les coses una mica més, perquè hem d’adaptar la moto a aquest pneumàtic, i en això treballarem matí. al final he apretat per intentar millorar el temps d’ahir, però en un moviment brusc de la moto m’ha saltat el coixí de seguretat del mono i no ha pogut acabar la volta.”

“Ha estat un dia complicat, s’estan posant les coses més difícils del compte. Potser anem endarrerits respecte als altres, però no acabo de trobar-me còmode sobre la moto, em vaig barallant amb ella en cada volta i per això estem a més de dos segons del temps. Hem de seguir treballant perquè el resultat no és bo. la clavícula em produeix molèsties, potser em fa anar amb més precaució i em costa una miqueta més, però el límit no està sent la clavícula, sinó la falta de quilòmetres en aquesta pista. Demà intentarem millorar la moto al FP4 per tractar de fer la millor volta possible en els cronometrats. Quan les coses es posen complicades sempre costa més, però seguirem treballant.”

Reale Avintia Racing riders Hector Barbera and Loris Baz kept working in the second night of free practice at the floodlit Losail International Circuit. The forecasted rain came just before the action started, and although it was dry for FP2, the circuit surface got really slippery compared to yesterday night. With this conditions the teams had to work on the set-up because yesterday settings were not useful any more.

Baz and Barbera were not able to improve their pace from the first night at Qatar, and both lost some places in the combined timesheets. Loris Baz dropped down from sixth to 14^th place with a best lap of 1’56.501 in FP2. While Barbera, who still struggling with his collarbone, also was not able to make a better lap, and his best tonight was 1’56.934.

Both riders expect to improve their feeling during the last free practice session tomorrow night, and then push harder in Q1 to get the best possible position on the grid for the first race of the season. But for sure it will be a tough qualifying session.

“Here the track condition always changes from one day to the next. The rain came this afternoon and we also have strong wind that left a lot of sand in the circuit. We had to change the setting of the bike and also I had to work in my riding style to suit the new conditions, but we didn’t do it so good as some other riders. But in the end has not so bad, my lap times with race tyres are pretty good. In addition I’m not able to use the soft front as in the test, and this complicated things a little more, because we have to adapt the bike to the hard tyre. At the end of FP3 I tried to push harder triying to improve the lap time I did yesterday, but the bike shaked with violence and the airbag system of my leathers activated, so I was not able to complete the lap.”

“It was a difficult day, as things are going worse than expected. Maybe we are behind the others because we didn´t test as much. I simply don´t feel comfortable on the bike and I have to fight it in every corner. As a result, we are more than two seconds off the pace. We have to keep working, because this is not a good result. My collarbone keeps bothering me, maybe I am too careful because of this injury. But our real limit is not the collarbone, it´s our lack of track time on this circuit. Tomorrow we will try to improve the bike in FP4 in order to get the best possible lap time in qualifying. It´s tough when things are not going your way, but we will grit our teeth and keep working hard.”

El primer dia de la temporada 2017 del Campionat del Món de MotoGP ha estat força positiu per a l’equip Reale Avintia Racing. Loris Baz ha acabat sisè a la primera sessió lliure de 45 minuts i ha estat la segona millor Ducati a només 17 mil·lèsimes de segon de Jorge Lorenzo. Sens dubte un gran començament per al pilot francès que ja està entre els deu més ràpids i, si demà es compleixen les previsions de pluja, estaria classificat per a la primera Q2 de la temporada.

Per Héctor Barberá la primera jornada també ha estat positiva. Lògicament la seva posició no és la millor i la seva millor volta tampoc, però després de gairebé un mes recuperant-se d’una lesió de clavícula, i amb tres dies de test menys que els seus rivals, les seves sensacions sobre de la moto han estat molt bones. Demà, si les condicions climatològiques ho permeten, el pilot de l’equip Reale Avintia Racing espera poder seguir treballant en la posada a punt de la seva Ducati.

“L’adherència era molt dolent al principi i molt diferent del test, així que hem esperat una mica a què es netegés la pista. També feia molt més vent que al test i hem hagut de buscar el punt de frenada en la recta. Ens han faltat coses que provar per a la carrera perquè hem tingut un petit problema amb la segona moto, però estic molt content perquè amb el pneumàtic tou hem rodat ràpid i no m’esperava en el primer lliure fer aquest temps. És un bon circuit per les Ducati perquè corren molt en la recta, però no la meva, perquè sóc molt alt, però avui hem vist que no només van bé en les rectes.”

“Les sensacions han estat força positives, perquè encara que la lesió lògicament em molesta en les frenades, acceleracions i canvis de direcció, és una cosa que puc suportar. El que més he notat és que els altres porten aquí tres dies d’entrenaments i nosaltres només 45 minuts i amb una posada a punt que no era la millor. Aquí l’electrònica compta molt, el meu enginyer electrònic necessita saber el que necessito per anar ràpid i això en una sessió és gairebé impossible fer-ho. Però estic satisfet perquè acabar a només un segon de la millor Ducati sense haver estat en el test crec que és una cosa molt positiva. També he estat força temps aturat al box reservant forces per quan toqui estrènyer .”

A new edition of the MotoGP World Championship starts this weekend under the floodlights of the Losail International Circuit in Qatar. And this time both Reale Avintia Racing riders, Hector Barbera and Loris Baz will be at Losail for the first race. The Spanish rider was forced to miss the last three-day test of the preseason after breaking his collarbone while training, but after 20 days of hard work with his physiotherapist Jordi Reig, Barbera will arrive to the first race in good shape, but obviously not at his 100%. “I arrive to the first race physically reduced, I’m not at my best level and although I have been working hard to recover, in the last 20 days I lost all the weight and cardio training I’ve made during the winter. It was not easy to face this injury, and even more in the way it had happened. But I head the first race in Qatar excited as if I was to start my first World Championship race. Things always happen for a reason, maybe because I was putting too much self-pressure, because I always want to give my best and the winter test were not going as I wanted to. I won’t be at 100%, but I will race without pressure and I will try to enjoy every minute on the bike.”

“I’m really looking forward to start the season. Winter testing was quite positive, we worked really well, the atmosphere in the team is fantastic and I built a good relationship with my new crew chief, so I head Qatar really eager. After the last season where I suffered too much, I’m looking forward to enjoy racing again. This weekend we will see if our work during the winter was useful or if we need to keep working to improve our speed. In the first races you always have big question marks, but also everyone in the team is exited to race, and this is always a great feeling.”

The first free practice session of the 2017 MotoGP World Championship, has been positive for Reale Avintia Racing team. Loris Baz was sixth fastest after in the 45 minutes of the season and he was the second fastest Ducati rider, just 0.017s behind Jorge Lorenzo. This was a great start for the French rider who finished inside the top 10 and, if the rain forecast for tomorrow is right, he will be already in the first Q2 of the season.

The first night at Losail was also positive for Hector Barbera. Obviously his position in the timesheet is not the best, either as his lap time, but after almost one month recovering from a collarbone fracture, and with three days less at this track comparing with his rivals, he had quite good feelings on the bike. Tomorrow, if weather conditions permit, the Reale Avintia Racing team rider expects to continue improving the set up of his Ducati.

“The grip was really bad at the beginning of the session, and the feeling was very different from the test, so we wait a little bit until the track was cleaned. The wind was also stronger than in the test, so we had to find the best braking point on the main straight. We could not test something for the race as my second bike had some issues, but overall I’m really happy because I was fast with the soft tyres. And honestly I did not expect to do this lap time on the first day. This is a good track for Ducati, because are fast on the straight. This is not my case because I’m too tall, but today we demonstrated that this bike is not just fast on straight line.”

“My feeling was quite positive, and although the collarbone obviously hurts under acceleration, braking and changing direction, it is something I can handle. The biggest gap for me was loosing the last test, because the rest of the riders have done three more days and we just had 45 minutes to set up de bike. The electronics are important and my electronic engineer need to know what I need to go faster, but in just one session this is impossible. But I’m happy because with one test less I finished just one second behind the fastest Ducati, and this is something positive. I also spend a lot of time sitting in my garage, I need to keep energy for when I will really need to push hard.”

El primer día de la temporada 2017 del Campeonato del Mundo de MotoGP ha sido bastante positivo para el equipo Reale Avintia Racing. Loris Baz ha terminado sexto en la primera sesión libre de 45 minutos y ha sido la segunda mejor Ducati a solo 17 milésimas de segundo de Jorge Lorenzo. Sin duda un gran comienzo para el piloto francés que ya está entre los diez más rápidos y, si mañana se cumplen las previsiones de lluvia, estaría clasificado para la primera Q2 de la temporada.

Para Héctor Barberá la primera jornada también ha sido positiva. Lógicamente su posición no es la mejor y su mejor vuelta tampoco, pero después de casi un mes recuperándose de una lesión de clavícula, y con tres días de test menos que sus rivales, sus sensaciones encima de la moto han sido muy buenas. Mañana, si las condiciones climatológicas lo permiten, el piloto del equipo Reale Avintia Racing espera poder seguir trabajando en la puesta a punto de su Ducati.

“El agarre era muy malo al principio y muy diferente del test, así que hemos esperado un poco a que se limpiase la pista. También hacía mucho más viento que en el test y hemos tenido que buscar el punto de frenada en la recta. Nos han faltado cosas que probar para la carrera porque hemos tenido un pequeño problema con la segunda moto, pero estoy muy contento porque con el neumático blando hemos rodado rápido y no me esperaba en el primer libre hacer este tiempo. Es un buen circuito para las Ducati porque corren mucho en la recta, pero no la mía, porque soy muy alto, pero hoy hemos visto que no solo van bien en las rectas.”

“Las sensaciones han sido bastante positivas, porque aunque la lesión lógicamente me molesta en las frenadas, aceleraciones y cambios de dirección, es algo que puedo soportar. Lo que más he notado es que los demás llevan aquí tres días de entrenamientos y nosotros solo 45 minutos y con una puesta a punto que no era la mejor. Aquí la electrónica cuenta mucho, mi ingeniero electrónico necesita saber lo que necesito para ir rápido y eso en una sesión es casi imposible hacerlo. Pero estoy satisfecho porque terminar a solo un segundo de la mejor Ducati sin haber estado en el test creo que es algo muy positivo. También he estado bastante tiempo parado en el box reservando fuerzas para cuando toque apretar.”

Aquest cap de setmana arrenca una nova edició del Campionat del Món de MotoGP, sota els milers de focus que il·luminaran el Circuit Internacional de Losail a Qatar. L’equip Reale Avintia Racing estarà al complet amb Héctor Barberá i Loris Baz al box per a la primera cursa a Losail. El pilot espanyol es va veure forçat a saltar-se el últim test de tres dies de la pretemporada a causa d’una lesió a la clavícula esquerra, però després de més de 20 dies d’intens treball amb el seu fisioterapeuta, Jordi Reig, Barberà arriba a la primera cursa bastant recuperat , encara que no al 100%. Així i tractarà d’aconseguir el millor resultat pilotant la seva Ducati Desmosedici GP16.

Qui sí arriba al màxim a la primera cita és el seu company Loris Baz. El pilot francès de l’equip Reale Avintia Racing ha fet una pretemporada molt sòlida i aquest cap de setmana espera poder inaugurar el seu caseller de punts a Qatar.

“A la primera cursa arribo minvat físicament, no arribo al meu millor nivell, perquè encara que he treballat molt per recuperar-me, tota la feina de peses i cardio que havia fet a l’hivern, l’he perdut en aquests últims 20 dies. No ha estat fàcil afrontar aquesta lesió i més per la forma en què va succeir, però arribo a Qatar il·lusionat com si fos el meu primer Mundial. Les coses sempre passen per alguna cosa, potser estava pressionat perquè jo mateix m’he exigeixo molt i la pretemporada no estava anant bé. no arribo al 100% físicament, però vaig sense cap ninguna pressió i tractaré de divertir-me al màxim damunt la moto.”

“Tinc moltíssimes ganes de començar aquesta temporada. Hem tingut un bon hivern, hem treballat bé, l’ambient en el meu equip és molt bo, la relació amb el cap de mecànics és molt bona i arribo a Qatar amb moltes ganes. Després de tot el que vaig patir l’any passat tinc ganes de gaudir de les carreres. Aquest cap de setmana veurem el treball que hem fet, o si ens falten coses per millorar. En les primeres carreres sempre hi ha moltes preguntes, però també hi ha moltes ganes de tots en el equip, i és una sensació que m’encanta poder sentir.”
