MotoGP GP of Thailand – Chang International Circuit

The riders of Team Reale Avintia Racing had a difficult start of the weekend at Buriram, with Xavier Simeon and Jordi Torres settling for 23rd and 24th place in the first free practice sessions of the Thai Grand Prix.

For Xavier Simeon, who rides the Ducati GP17 of his injured teammate Tito Rabat for the third consecutive time, these first two sessions were not easy. Even though his feeling with the bike improved in FP2, his progress was stopped when he suffered a crash. He only could improve by three tenths of a second when he tried to push for a hot lap with new tyres. Nevertheless, the Belgian rider remains positive and hopes to climb up in the time sheets on Saturday.

Jordi Torres accumulated solid track knowledge in four seasons of World Superbike racing at the Chang International Circuit, but with the MotoGP bike, many things were completely different and new again. The Spanish rider finished the day right behind his teammate, but was happy with what he learned on the first day. Bit by bit, he feels better with the bike and the tyres, so he shares Simeon’s confidence of doing better on Saturday.

FP3 will start at 4.55 h, followed by FP4 at 8.30 h and the qualifying sessions at 9.10 h Spanish time.

“I struggled a bit in the morning, but in the afternoon, I felt very good on the bike and I was hopeful to improve considerably. Unfortunately, I had a crash at the end of the session due to some oil on the track and I was forced to finish with my second bike. I couldn’t get the best out of it and improve my lap time the way I expected and therefore I’m a bit disappointed. Once again, I couldn’t improve enough in comparison to the others with a new tyre. I am really working hard on improving this aspect, but so far we haven’t found the solution. Apart from this, it was a positive day, as I had good feelings with the bike.”

“Even though it doesn’t show in the time sheets, I am happy with our progress. We had a super-productive day and I managed to get a lot more accustomed to the bike and the tyres. This morning, I allowed myself to ride the way I felt most comfortable, whereas in the afternoon, I tried to change my riding style in a way that suits the bike and the tyres. I changed my position on the bike a lot and as a consequence, I improved on the corner exits. But more than anything, I started to understand the behaviour of the front tyre and I began to feel when it starts to move. I treated this with lots of respect at the beginning, but in the end I started to like it. Tonight, I will think a lot about all the new information that I collected and tomorrow, I hope to get a bit closer to the others.”

MotoGP GP de Tailandia – Chang International Circuit

Los pilotos del equipo Reale Avintia Racing han tenido un día complicado en su debut en Buriram, con Xavier Simeon 23º y Jordi Torres 24º en los primeros entrenamientos libres para el Gran Premio de Tailandia.

Para Xavier Simeon, que por tercera carrera consecutiva contará con la Ducati GP17 de su compañero lesionado, Tito Rabat, las primeras dos sesiones no han sido fáciles. Aunque sus sensaciones con la moto han ido a mejor en el FP2, una caída ha cortado su progresión y, cuando ha salido con neumáticos nuevos para buscar un tiempo, solo ha mejorado tres décimas de segundo. Aun así el piloto belga es positivo y mañana espera estar más arriba.

Jordi Torres, conoce el circuito bastante bien después de cuatro temporadas compitiendo en WSBK, pero todo sigue siendo nuevo para él con la moto. El piloto español ha terminado justo por detrás de su compañero de equipo y muy contento con lo que ha podido aprender hoy. Poco a poco va sintiendo mejor la moto y los neumáticos, con lo que mañana confía en mejorar.

El FP3 dará comienzo a las 4:55h, el FP4 a las 8:30h y, los cronometrados arrancarán a las 9:10 hora peninsular.

“La verdad es que por la mañana me ha costado un poco, pero por la tarde me encontraba muy bien sobre la moto y esperaba poder mejorar bastante. Sin embargo, al final de la sesión he sufrido una caída al pisar aceite y he tenido que acabar con la segunda moto. No he podido sacar el máximo para mejorar mis tiempos y, por eso, estoy un poco decepcionado. Una vez más cuando montamos neumático nuevo para buscar un buen tiempo, no mejoro lo suficiente en comparación con los demás pilotos. Estoy trabajando duro para mejorar este aspecto, pero no encontramos la solución. Aparte de esto, ha sido un día positivo y he tenido buen ‘feeling’ con la moto.”

“Estoy contento a pesar de que la clasificación no lo demuestre. Pero estoy satisfecho porque hoy ha sido un día súper productivo y he conseguido conocer mejor la moto y los neumáticos. Esta mañana me he dejado llevar con lo que me sale más natural, mientras que por la tarde he intentado cambiar mi estilo para adaptarlo a lo que piden la moto y los neumáticos. He cambiado mucho la posición en la moto y he mejorado en la salida de las curvas, pero sobre todo, he empezado a conocer un poco más el comportamiento del neumático delantero y he podido sentir cuándo empieza a moverse. Al principio me ha dado respeto, pero al final me ha gustado. Así que con toda esta información, esta noche haré los deberes y mañana espero estar un poco más cerca”.

Reale Avintia Academy 77 Moto3 – GP de Tailandia – Chang International Circuit

El primer día de entrenamientos libres en Tailandia ha sido bastante positivo para el equipo Reale Avintia Academy 77, con Vicente Pérez 24º en la combinada de tiempos y muy buenas sensaciones de cara a mañana.

El sol ha brillado con fuerza hoy en Buriram y el asfalto ha llegado a alcanzar temperaturas de 54ºC durante el FP2.

El piloto valenciano ha aprovechado el primer día para conocer bien el trazado de Chang International Circuit y, después de dos sesiones de 40 minutos, está preparado para dar un gran paso mañana en los clasificatorios.

La última sesión de entrenamientos libres comenzará a las 9:00h, mientras que la clasificatoria está prevista para las 12:35h hora local.

“Ha sido un día un poco difícil, pero a la vez bastante productivo. Ha sido complicado porque hemos ido dando pasos durante todo el día, pero en la última sesión me he caído en los últimos minutos me ha condicionado un poco una caída de otro piloto. Pero la verdad es que estoy bastante confiado de cara a mañana, porque mi equipo como siempre está trabajando muy bien y pienso que podemos hacer un buen tiempo. El circuito me recuerda bastante a Austria, no es muy complicado pero cuenta con algún punto bastante técnico. Veremos mañana si podemos clasificarnos bien en parrilla.”

Reale Avintia Academy 77 Moto3 – GP of Thailand – Chang International Circuit

The first day of free practice in Thailand was quite positive for Team Reale Avintia Academy 77. Vicente Pérez moved up to 24th in the combined practice times and has really good feelings for tomorrow’s qualifying.

FP2 at Buriram was held in tropically hot conditions with track temperatures of 54 degress.

The Spanish rider used this first day to learn the Chang International Circuit. After talking full advantage of both 40-minute sessions, he is ready to attack in qualifying on Saturday.

The third and last free practice session is scheduled for tomorrow at 9:00am, with qualifying to follow at 12:35pm local time.

“It was a difficult day, but also quite productive. It was complicated because we took different steps with our set-up throughout the day. In the second session, I had un unlucky fall in the last few minutes when another rider crashed in front of me. But nevertheless, I’m confident for tomorrow, because my team is always working very well and I think we can do a good lap time. The circuit reminds me a lot of Austria, it is not very complicated even though it has some tricky technical areas. We’ll see tomorrow if we can qualify well on the grid.”

El trazado de Chang International Circuit será el escenario del estreno del Campeonato del Mundo de Moto3 en el país del Sudeste Asiático y, Vicente Pérez, espera sacar provecho de que el circuito será nuevo para todos.

El piloto valenciano y el equipo esperan encontrar pronto el camino con la puesta a punto de su KTM RC250R para clasificarse lo mejor posible en la parrilla y lograr un buen resultado en la carrera del domingo.

Moto3 comenzará la acción el viernes con el FP1 a las 4:00h hora peninsular.

“Voy con muchas ganas a Tailandia porque, al ser un circuito nuevo en el calendario, todos partiremos con las mismas armas. Por lo tanto creo que será una buena oportunidad para hacerlo bien, seguir acumulando experiencia y tratar de sumar algunos puntos más en la clasificación. Llevamos una línea muy buena y tenemos que seguir así en las próximas carreras.”

Reale Avintia Academy 77 Moto3 – GP of Thailand – Chang International

Reale Avintia Academy 77 team is ready to race in Thailand’s first ever Grand Prix in Buriram this weekend. The Chang International Circuit will debut in the Moto3 World Championship calendar this season for the very first time and, Vicente Pérez, hopes to take advantage of the fact that the circuit will be new for all the grid and everyboy will start from zero.
The Valencian rider and his team are looking forward to quickly find the best set-up for the KTM RC250R to qualify as high as possible on the grid and fight for a good result in Sunday’s race.
Action will start in Moto3 on Friday with FP1 at 9:00am local time (4: 00h Spanish time).

“I’m really looking forward to race in Thailand because, is a new circuit in the calendar, so we will start with the same weapons. Therefore I think it will be a good opportunity to perform well, get more experience and try to add some more points in the championship standings. We have done good in the last rounds and we have to continue like this in the next few races.”

MotoGP GP de Tailandia – Chang International Circuit

El piloto del equipo Reale Avintia Racing, Tito Rabat, recibió el alta del Hospital Universitari Dexeus de Barcelona la pasada semana y continuará con el proceso de recuperación de sus lesiones en su domicilio en Valencia. Rabat, quien se fracturó fémur, tibia y peroné hace un mes en el circuito de Silverstone, no viajará a Tailandia y todavía tendrá que esperar alguna semana más para volver a subirse a su Ducati GP17.

Su compañero Xavier Simeon será el encargado de pilotar una vez más la moto de Rabat y, en la primera visita del Campeonato del Mundo de MotoGP a Tailandia, espera dar un paso hacia delante. El piloto belga llega al trazado de Chang International Circuit muy motivado, porque conoce el circuito de la pretemporada y después de dos carreras con la GP17 espera poder luchar por los puntos este fin de semana.

Tras debutar en la categoría reina en MotorLand Aragón, Jordi Torres viaja a Tailandia con muchas ganas, porque esta vez, no llegará completamente a ciegas. Torres ya conoce la moto, los neumáticos, el equipo y, conoce muy bien el circuito. Porque, aunque con motos completamente diferentes a la Ducati GP16 del Reale Avintia Racing que pilotará este fin de semana, ha competido en Buriram los últimos cuatro años en el Campeonato del Mundo de Superbike.

La previsión meteorológica para el fin de semana es buena, con sol y altas temperaturas durante todo el fin de semana. La acción de MotoGP comenzará el viernes a las 9:55 hora local (4:45 hora peninsular).

“Voy a Tailandia con muchas ganas, porque es un circuito donde hemos podido entrenar durante el invierno y eso siempre es bueno, porque llegaremos con un poco de experiencia. Eso ha sido precisamente lo que más problemas nos ha causado este año, la falta de experiencia para coger rápidamente las referencias con la MotoGP. Otra vez competiré con la moto de Tito y, por eso, tengo expectativas muy altas para este fin de semana y espero poder puntuar por primera vez esta temporada.”

“Después de la gran experiencia de Aragón, donde tuve que asimilar muchísima información durante el fin de semana para adaptarme al estilo que requiere una MotoGP, poder volver a subirme en la moto en Tailandia es algo muy positivo. Además conozco bien el circuito, porque en Superbike llevamos cuatro años corriendo allí. Es un trazado que me gusta y se me da bien. Tendremos que aprovechar bien el FP1 el viernes para coger ritmo rápido y seguir mejorando. Debo mejorar mucho el ángulo de inclinación y levantar la moto rápidamente. Hay muchas cosas que tengo claras en mi cabeza, pero que debo aplicarlas sobre la moto. A ver si puedo ir más suelto encima de la moto y hacerlo lo mejor posible”.

MotoGP GP of Thailand – Chang International Circuit

Reale Avintia Racing rider Tito Raba was released from the Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona last week and will continue his rehabilitation program at home in Valencia. Rabat, who fractured his femur, tibia and fibula a month ago at the Silverstone circuit, will not travel to Thailand and instead needs a few more weeks of patience before getting back on his Ducati GP17.
His team-mate Xavier Simeon is going to ride Rabat’s bike once again and is determined to make another step at the first ever MotoGP race in Thailand. The Belgian rider arrives at the Chang International Circuit highly motivated, as he knows the track from the winter test and as he has the experience of two races with the GP17 under his belt. He hopes to be able to fight for points this weekend.
Following his promising debut in the premier class at the last race at MotorLand Aragón, Jordi Torres flies to Thailand with confidence. Torres knows the bike, the tyres, the equipment and he also knows the circuit very well, from the races in the World Superbike championship in the last four season. Even though the Ducati Superbike is radically different from the Desmosedici GP16 of Reale Avintia Racing, the experience on this track will certainly help to master the challenges of next weekend.
The weather forecast is good, with sun and high temperatures throughout the weekend. The MotoGP action will start on Friday at 9:55 local time (4:45 Spanish time).

“I am going to Thailand with a lot of confidence, because we tested there in the pre-season and this means that we will start the weekend with some experience. The lack of track experience was the cause of most of our problems this year, because it stopped us from getting on the pace quickly and getting the references with the MotoGP machine. I will ride Tito’s bike again and therefore, I have very high expectations. I hope to score points for the first time this season.”

“After the great experience of Aragon, where I had to absorb a lot of information over the weekend to adapt to my riding style to the MotoGP category, it s fantastic to have another chance and to get back on the bike in Thailand. I know the circuit very well, because we have been racing there in the last four years of the World Superbike championship. It’s a track that I like and I where I had good races. We will have to make the best of FP1 on Friday to catch up with the others and to keep improving. I must get down to the maximum lean angle and learn how to pick up the bike on the corners exits as quickly as possible. There are many things that I figured out in my head and now it’s time to apply this knowledge to the bike. Let’s see if I can ride more smoothly and if I can score a decent result on Sunday”.
