Luca Marini and Enea Bastianini have finished the first day of the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix, where both riders had their first contact with the Sachsenring circuit aboard their Ducati Desmosedici GP19.

Marini was 18th in the combined free practice with a best time of 1’21.595. Bastianini ended the first day in 19th position after setting a time of 1’21.702.

The third free practice of the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix will start tomorrow at 9:55.

“It was a difficult day, however, we got some positive things out of it and we have a good pace. This morning I was able to try different tires, but I didn’t feel comfortable with the hard one. My fast lap wasn’t very good and also some other riders bothered me and didn’t allow me to give 100%. I am sure that tomorrow we will achieve better times and we will try to give our best.”

“It was not an easy day, we had some problems, but the feeling was not bad at all. What we did in the Barcelona test worked here, I felt good on the bike and I rode as I like. In FP2 I had a problem shortly after the start, which made me lose feeling with the rear. I went back out on the soft tire, but I couldn’t get the most out of it because I had the medium tire in front, whereas I prefer the hard one. I tried to push anyway because the top 10 was possible, but I crashed. The soft held out for about three laps, so I tried to make the most of it on my fifth attempt. I’m really sorry for the team because they’ll have a lot of work to do tonight.”

Luca Marini y Enea Bastianini han superado el primer día del Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix, donde ambos pilotos han tenido su primera toma de contacto con el circuito de Sachsenring a bordo de sus Ducati Desmosedici GP19.

Marini ha sido 18º en los tiempos combinados con un mejor registro de 1’21.595. Por su parte, Bastianini ha concluido la primera jornada en 19ª posición tras marcar un tiempo de 1’21.702.

Mañana a partir de las 9:55 arrancará el tercer entrenamiento libre del Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix.

“Ha sido un día difícil, sin embargo, hemos sacado cosas positivas y tenemos un buen ritmo. Esta mañana he podido probar diferentes neumáticos, pero no me he acabado de sentir cómodo con el duro. Mi vuelta rápida no ha sido muy buena además de que algún que otro piloto me ha molestado y no me ha permitido dar el 100%. Estoy seguro de que mañana se lograrán mejores tiempos y trataremos de dar nuestro máximo.”

“No ha sido un día fácil, hemos tenido algunos problemas, pero las sensaciones no han sido nada malas. Lo que hicimos en el test de Barcelona ha funcionado aquí, me he sentido bien sobre la moto y he pilotado como me gusta. En la FP2 he tenido un problema poco después de la salida, lo que me ha hecho perder sensaciones con la parte trasera. He vuelto a salir con el blando, pero no he podido sacarle el máximo partido porque tenía el neumático medio delante, mientras que yo prefiero el duro. He intentado presionar de todos modos porque el top 10 estaba al alcance de la mano, pero me he ido al suelo. El blando ha aguantado unas tres vueltas, así que he tratado de aprovecharlo al máximo en mi quinto intento. Lo siento mucho por el equipo, porque tendrán mucho trabajo esta noche.”

The MotoGP World Championship lands this weekend at the Sachsenring circuit for the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deuchtsland, the 8th round of the calendar.

“Sachsenring is a very special track, but with its charm and with MotoGP it will be even more. The track was already narrow and small with the Moto2, and now I’m curious to see what effect it will have on the Ducati. It’s going to be a difficult weekend, and I think the differences will be very small. The circuit is only a few kilometers long, so we will only be separated by a few tenths of a second, and this year the class is at an extremely high level, with differences of less than a second between first and twentieth. This is another reason why it will be fascinating. We will start with all the positives we picked up from the Barcelona test to keep growing.”

El Campeonato del Mundo de MotoGP aterriza este fin de semana en el circuito de Sachsenring para disputar el Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deuchtsland, la 8ª cita del calendario.

Enea Bastianini y Luca Marini, que lograron un resultado muy positivo en el Gran Premio de Catalunya, quieren seguir con la buena racha que atraviesan en Alemania y así poder seguir sumando puntos para el equipo.

La acción dará comienzo el viernes a las 9:55 con los primeros entrenamientos libres del Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deuchtsland.

“Llegamos a Sachsenring, un circuito donde no estuvimos el año pasado debido al coronavirus. De todas formas, es una pista que normalmente se me ha dado bien, sobre todo con la Moto3. Con la Moto2 solamente pude correr una vez y veremos cómo será estar aquí con una MotoGP.”

“Sachsenring es una pista muy especial, pero con su encanto y con MotoGP lo será aún más. La pista ya era estrecha y pequeña con la Moto2, y ahora tengo curiosidad por ver qué efecto tendrá en la Ducati. Va a ser un fin de semana difícil, y creo que las diferencias serán muy pequeñas. El circuito tiene pocos kilómetros, así que sólo nos separarán unas décimas de segundo, y este año la categoría está a un nivel muy alto, con diferencias de menos de un segundo entre el primero y el vigésimo. Esta es otra razón por la que será fascinante. Empezaremos con todo lo positivo que recogimos del test en Barcelona para seguir creciendo.”

Enea Bastinini y Luca Marini han disputado durante el día de hoy una jornada de test oficiales en el Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya.

Ambos pilotos han aprovechado para seguir sumando kilometraje con sus Ducati Desmosedici GP19 y así seguir con el trabajo de adaptación y puesta a punto para afrontar lo mejor posible las próximas citas del Campeonato del Mundo de MotoGP. Bastianini ha completado un total de 36 vueltas con un mejor registro de 1:40.923. Por su parte, Marini ha cerrado la jornada con 49 vueltas y un tiempo de 1:40.226.

Tras cuatro días seguidos en Barcelona, el Avintia Esponsorama y el Sky VR46 Avintia ya tienen la mirada puesta en el Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, que se disputará durante el 18, 19 y 20 de junio en Sachsenring.

“Hoy ha sido un día complicado porque desde ayer por la mañana tengo algo de dolor en el hombro y también en el brazo. El ‘test’ ha sido importante, especialmente para trabajar el paso por curva porque soy algo lento en este aspecto y, concretamente en esta carrera, ha sido complicado para mí la frenada. He podido probar cosas nuevas en la parte delantera, he conseguido mejorar mis sensaciones y me siento más competitivo también con neumáticos usados. Veremos si todo esto nos funciona en Sachsenring.”

Enea Bastianini and Luca Marini finished a very positive Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya for the team, both finishing in the points.

Bastianini made a great comeback after starting from 17th position in qualifying. The Italian was able to cross the finish line in a well-deserved and hard-earned 10th place.

Luca Marini managed his tires impressively during the race. Thanks to this, the Sky VR46 Avintia rider scored 4 valuable points by finishing in 12th position.

Tomorrow, a test will be held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya before heading to Sachsenring, where the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland will take place in two weeks.

“It was a good race and I enjoyed it. I tried to cut as much time as possible to the riders in front and I’m happy with the position, but a little bit less so because of the gap to the first. I suffered a lot under braking and today I didn’t feel 100%. Fortunately, tomorrow we have a test here where we can work and prepare for the next race and maybe get the confidence I lost with the crash on Saturday.”

“It was a good weekend and the race went more or less as expected. I rode well, I managed the tires well, both front and rear. It’s a pity I made a mistake in the first corner, I was following Marquez and Rossi and I was fighting with them. The tire overheated and the pressure also increased. I lost a couple of seconds there, then I recovered and I was also lucky because a lot of people made mistakes. The track was slippery and I am happy to bring home 12th place. I picked up a lot of information and four points. Tomorrow we have a test day and I’m expecting a lot because we are not far away from being with the front guys, just a few more tenths and we can find them.”

Bastianini ha ejecutado una gran remontada tras salir en la 17ª posición que obtuvo en la clasificación. El italiano ha podido cruzar la línea de meta en un 10º lugar muy merecido y trabajado.

Luca Marini ha hecho una gran gestión de sus neumáticos durante la carrera. Gracias a ello, el piloto del SKY VR46 Avintia ha sumado 4 valiosos puntos al terminar en 12ª posición.

Durante el día de mañana, se disputará en el Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya un ‘test’ antes de poner dirección a Sachsenring, donde se disputará el Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland dentro de dos semanas.

“Ha sido una buena carrera y que la he disfrutado. He intentado recortar el máximo a los pilotos de delante y estoy contento por la posición, pero un poco menos por la distancia que hemos quedado respecto al primero. He sufrido mucho en las frenadas y hoy no me he sentido al 100%. Afortunadamente mañana tenemos un ‘test’ aquí y por lo tanto podremos trabajar y prepararnos para la próxima carrera y tal vez recuperar la confianza que perdí con la caída del sábado.”

“Ha sido un buen fin de semana y la carrera ha ido más o menos como esperábamos. He pilotado bien, he gestionado bien los neumáticos, tanto los delanteros como los traseros. Es una lástima que haya cometido un error en la primera curva, estaba en la estela de Márquez y Rossi y estaba luchando con ellos. El neumático se sobrecalentó y la presión también aumentó. Perdí un par de segundos ahí, luego me recuperé y también tuve suerte porque mucha gente ha cometido errores. La pista estaba resbaladiza y estoy contento de traer a casa el 12º puesto. He cogido mucha información y cuatro puntos. Mañana tenemos un día de pruebas y espero mucho porque no estamos muy lejos de estar con los de delante, sólo unas décimas más y podemos encontrarlas.”

“With the grid position aside, I have to say that I am happy to have done two races in two consecutive weekends. This has helped me to push the bike to the limit, to be able to work well with the tires and to have fun on the track. Today’s times are not the best, but it’s what I can do at the moment. I rode well, I didn’t make any mistakes, but I had no grip on the rear, especially on the right side, something that never happened to me in the previous sessions. Overall, I can say that I am satisfied with the level of riding we are achieving and with the work we are doing with the whole team.”

Ambos pilotos han tenido que disputar la Q1 y, desafortunadamente, ninguno de los dos ha podido superar el corte. Bastianini arrancará la carrera 17º tras conseguir un mejor registro de 1:39.590. Marini, con un tiempo de 1:39.942, se ha tenido que conformar con la 19ª posición.

Mañana a las 13:00 se disputará la carrera del Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya donde tanto Bastianini como Marini, lucharán desde el principio para cruzar la línea de meta con un buen resultado.

“Ha sido un día un poco complicado. Hemos empezado bien esta mañana, pero luego he tenido una caída que me ha hecho perder un poco de confianza. Por la tarde poco a poco la he podido recuperar, pero mi tiempo no ha sido suficiente para terminar entre los dos primeros. De todas formas, estoy bastante satisfecho con el trabajo que hemos hecho y mañana debemos intentar dar un paso más, seguir ganando la confianza perdida y será importante hacer una buena salida.”

“Realmente, dejando a un lado la posición de salida en la parrilla, tengo que decir que estoy contento de haber hecho dos carreras en dos fines de semana consecutivos. Esto me ha ayudado a llevar la moto al límite, a poder trabajar bien con los neumáticos y me he divertido en la pista. Los tiempos de hoy no son los mejores, pero es lo que puedo hacer en este momento. He pilotado bien, no he cometido ningún error, pero no tenía agarre en la parte trasera, sobre todo en el lado derecho, algo que nunca me había pasado en las sesiones anteriores. En general, puedo decir que estoy satisfecho con el nivel de pilotaje que estamos alcanzando y con el trabajo que estamos realizando con todo el equipo.”

Enea Bastianini and Luca Marini started the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya finishing 8th and 13th respectively in the combined practice times.

During the first free practice, Bastianini and Marini were able to work on the set-up of the bike to get a good balance that is so important and necessary at this track.

For the second free practice, both riders were able to set their best laps of the day. Bastianini stopped the clock at 1:39.977, a time that puts him in Q2 positions. Marini, who suffered a minor crash in the early stages of the session, set a time of 1:40.094.

Tomorrow the action will return to the Catalan track for the third and fourth free practice sessions before qualifying for the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya.

“I am quite happy with the first day. We started off on the right foot in FP1 and I immediately found a good feeling. This afternoon we were able to work a little bit with the tires, trying to understand the tire compound and the tire life. I felt comfortable with both and it won’t be easy to decide for the race. On my first fast lap I went off the track and on my second one I made some mistakes. Nevertheless, I’m eighth, but with a margin, so I think we can make a step forward tomorrow.”

“This track is great fun to ride a MotoGP bike, although today’s conditions were really difficult in terms of grip. We struggled a bit, but we were also able to try some new solutions in terms of set-up and overall, I’m happy with the day. We need to make a step forward on the fast laps, we have room for improvement, and we will use FP3 to try something else. There are some places on the track where I can’t do what I want to do.”
