Esponsorama Racing has completed the first day of the Styrian Grand Prix with a single rider in the Red Bull Ring – Spielberg.

In the morning session, Tito Rabat has hit the track with energy to continue squeezing his Ducati to the fullest. Despite the session, the Spanish rider finished in 19th place less than a second behind the leader.

In the afternoon, the Catalan could not improve his morning record thus ending the day in the 20th position. Despite not improving, his time of 1’24.806 is three tenths better than last weekend’s best time, showing that his feelings on the bike are getting better.

As for Johann Zarco, today was a singular day. At the end of the first free practice of MotoGP it was known that the Gaul will have to start the next race from the pit lane due to the last Sunday’s incident with Franco Morbidelli. The good news of the day is that Johann Zarco has been declared fit to compete in this Grand Prix of Styria.

Tomorrow at the Red Bull Ring – Spielberg will take place the third and fourth free practices and qualifying for Sunday’s race, where the team will fight for the best possible position.

“In the morning it was a good day, it was a good training, I went out on the track and I threw, finishing 0.9 of the first classified. But in the afternoon is has cost us a little more, although anyway we will try to see if they can help me with the electronics and so be able to accelerate more in the first meters that is what I lack”

“About today, the positive thing is that I’m declared fit to ride tomorrow and this is really important. It’s true that my wrist is improving very fast and I’m happy with this. I think I will have some pain, and I will see how I can control this pain but is good to try. I’m happy with the medical check they said that I can ride, and also, I’m happy with the penalty. I was thinking to make an appeal by the FIM, but then it’s a bit tricky and it will be again to push the problem even and even later. El Esponsorama Racing ha completado el primer día del Gran Premio de Styria con un sólo piloto en pista en el Red Bull Ring – Spielberg.

En la sesión de la mañana, Tito Rabat ha salido a pista con energía para continuar exprimiendo al máximo su Ducati. Pese a una caída sin consecuencias durante la sesión, el piloto español ha terminado en 19ª posición a menos de un segundo del líder.

Por la tarde, el catalán no ha podido mejorar su registro de la mañana finalizando así el día en la 20ª posición. Pese a no mejorar, su tiempo de 1’24.806 es tres décimas mejor que el mejor tiempo del fin de semana pasado, demostrando así que sus sensaciones encima de la moto cada vez son mejores.

Respecto a Johann Zarco, hoy ha sido un día singular por no poder subirse a la moto. Al fin de la primera sesión de entrenamientos libres de MotoGP se conocía que el galo tendrá que salir de pit lane la próxima carrera debido al incidente del domingo pasado junto a Franco Morbidelli. La buena noticia del día es que Johann ha recibido el apto para poder disputar este Gran Premio de Styria.

Mañana en el Red Bull Ring – Spielberg se disputarán el tercer y cuarto entrenamiento libre y la clasificación para la carrera del domingo, donde el equipo luchará por obtener la mejor posición posible.

“Por la mañana ha sido un buen entreno, he salido ha pista y he tirado, terminando a 9 décimas del primer clasificado. Pero por la tarde nos ha costado un poco más, aunque de todas maneras vamos a probar a ver si me pueden ayudar con la electrónica y poder así acelerar más en los primeros metros que es lo que me falta.”

“Sobre el día de hoy, lo positivo es que soy apto para correr mañana y esto es muy importante. Es cierto que mi muñeca está mejorando muy rápido y estoy feliz con eso. Así que claramente es una buena oportunidad de correr para tener algunas sensaciones y poder disfrutar en la moto. Creo que tendré algo de dolor y voy a ver cómo puedo controlar este dolor, pero es bueno intentarlo. Estoy feliz con el chequeo médico ya que me dijeron que podría correr, y también, estoy feliz con la sanción. Estaba pensando en hacer una apelación a la FIM, pero es un poco difícil y sería volver al problema incluso más tarde. Y en el caso de que mi apelación no sea aceptada, mi situación no seria buena por lo que prefiero resolver esta penalización y salir del pit lane este fin de semana, cerrando así la historia. Mejor hacerlo de esta manera y luego dar lo mejor de mí en las carreras de Misano.”

One week after the Austrian Grand Prix, Esponsorama Racing will dispute the Grand Prix of Styria this weekend at the same Red Bull Ring – Spielberg.

Johann Zarco went under surgery on Wednesday after the big crash during the race last Sunday due to a fractured scaphoid in his right hand. The French rider will have to undergo a medical check-up tomorrow as, by regulation, this check-up must take place at least 48 hours after the operation, so he will not be able to return to the track until Saturday if he is declared fit. Besides, after declaring today with the stewards for the incident that occurred last weekend, Zarco is waiting for the resolution of the case.

I didn’t do anything crazy so I hope they understand this, and we will wait to the final decision.”

“Second week in Austria. The first week it was difficult to get a stability because of the bad track conditions in FP1, then in the second and third free practice with rain, so it was a bit difficult to focus, but this weekend we will have a clean track. It seems that on Friday and Saturday the weather will respect us, so we will have to take advantage of it and focus on getting a good set-up for Sunday.”

Una semana después del Gran Premio de Austria, el Esponsorama Racing disputará este fin de semana el Gran Premio de Styiria en el mismo Red Bull Ring – Spielberg.

Johann Zarco pasó por quirófano el miércoles tras el fuerte accidente sufrido durante la carrera del pasado domingo debido a una fractura en el escafoides de su mano derecha. El piloto francés tendrá que realizar mañana el chequeo médico ya que, por normativa, dicho chequeo se tiene llevar a cabo al menos 48 horas después de la operación, por lo que no podrá volver a pista hasta el sábado si se declara apto. A parte, después de declarar hoy ante los comisarios por el incidente ocurrido el fin de semana pasado, Zarco está pendiente de la resolución del caso.

Por su parte, Tito Rabat, que carrera tras carrera está mostrando una gran evolución y mejorando las sensaciones encima de la Ducati Desmosedici GP19, volverá a tener una nueva oportunidad tras quedarse a las puertas de los puntos en el Gran Premio de Austria.

Será mañana cuando Tito Rabat volverá a la acción en el Red Bull Ring – Spielberg para disputar los dos primeros entrenamientos libres del Gran Premio de Styria, a la espera del chequeo médico de Johann Zarco, para ver si está en condiciones de volver a pista el sábado.

“La operación ha ido bien. Ahora tengo que esperar 48 horas para el chequeo médico, así que mañana no me montaré en la moto, espero poder hacerlo el sábado. Después de la operación estoy mejorando, pero todavía no me siento listo para pilotar. Espero que con 24 horas más me sienta mejor y pueda dar algunas vueltas el sábado para mejorar las sensaciones con la moto. Perderse mañana los dos entrenamientos libres no es un gran drama porque tenemos referencias de la semana pasada y la moto es rápida en esta pista. Hoy he tenido la reunión con los comisarios para explicar bien todo sobre el adelantamiento a Morbidelli y contrastarlo con los datos. No hice ninguna locura, así que espero que lo entiendan y esperaremos a la decisión final”.

“Segunda semana en Austria. La primera semana fue difícil coger una estabilidad debido a las malas condiciones de la pista en el FP1, luego en los segundos y terceros entrenamientos libres con lluvia, por lo que costó un poco centrarse, pero este fin de semana tendremos la pista limpia. Parece que el viernes y el sábado nos va a respetar el tiempo, tendremos que aprovecharlo y a centrarse para conseguir una buena puesta a punto para el domingo.”

After the heavy crash and later impact during the Austrian Grand Prix race at the Red Bull Ring – Spielberg on Sunday, Johann Zarco had a medical check-up on Monday morning as pain persisted in his right wrist. After knowing the results Zarco will travel to Italy and undergo surgery on Wednesday after a small fracture on the scaphoid in his right hand.

The recovery period, the check-up at the medical centre and the rider’s own feelings will determine his availability for this weekend’s Styian Grand Prix.

“On Monday I did some controls on my right wrist because it was still some pain, and I got a little fracture on the scaphoid. I will go to Italy to do the operation on Wednesday morning, with a doctor that has very good contact with Ducati, this is the doctor that many times operates riders. Then we will come back to Austria, and I will be on Thursday at the track to have a meeting about the big incident that happened on Sunday. If the feeling is OK on the wrist and the medical center declares me fit to ride I will try and see if I can ride the bike. The advantage this weekend is we already have all the references from the week before, so this is not a big drama if I miss few sessions and I can take one more day to feel if my wrist is ok. Now, the main thing is the operation, and after that see if my feeling improves. The team is working on the bike to prepare it, and I know everything will be ready if I come back on the bike. Maybe there will be some rain, so also this is a chance because on the rain we have less effort on the bike and for me will be really a good chance with the rain if I can race without much effort on the wrist.”

Después de la fuerte caída y posterior impacto sufrido el pasado domingo durante la carrera del Gran Premio de Austria en el Red Bull Ring – Spielberg, Johann Zarco realizó un chequeo médico el lunes por la mañana debido a que el dolor persistía en su muñeca derecha. Tras conocer los resultados, Zarco viajará a Italia y será sometido este mismo miércoles a una operación a raíz de una pequeña fractura en el escafoides de la mano derecha.

El periodo de recuperación, el chequeo en el centro médico y las sensaciones del propio piloto marcarán y determinaran su disponibilidad para el Gran Premio de Styria, que se disputará este fin de semana.

“El lunes me hice un chequeo en mi muñeca derecha ya que aún me dolía un poco y tengo una pequeña fractura en el escafoides. Voy a ir a Italia para operarme el miércoles por la mañana, con un doctor que tiene muy buena relación con Ducati, este doctor ha operado muchas veces a pilotos. Luego volveremos a Austria, y el jueves estaré en el circuito ya que tengo una reunión sobre el incidente que ocurrió el domingo. Si la sensación en la muñeca es buena y el centro médico me declara apto, intentaré ver si puedo correr. La ventaja de este fin de semana es que ya tenemos todas las referencias de la semana anterior, por lo que no es un gran drama si me pierdo algunas sesiones y puedo tomar un días más para sentir mi muñeca bien. Ahora, lo principal es la operación, y después de eso ver si mi sensación mejora. El equipo está trabajando en preparar la moto, y sé que todo estará listo si vuelvo. Tal vez llueva, así que esto también es una oportunidad, ya que en lluvia hacemos menos esfuerzo sobre la moto y para mí seria realmente bueno si puedo correr con lluvia sin esforzar mucho la muñeca.”

Esponsorama Racing finished the fourth round of the World Championship, the Austrian Grand Prix, with Tito Rabat in 16th position and a big crash for Johann Zarco.

The French rider, who yesterday completed a good qualifying session that allowed him to start the race in 9th position, was doing a great performance fighting for the top positions. With 20 laps to go, Zarco was involved in an unfortunate incident and was hit by Franco Morbidelli in turn three, causing a spectacular accident that didin’t allow him finishing a race that promised a successful result. After the crash, both bikes were thrown out and nearly caught up with Rossi and Viñales, but fortunately both Zarco and all the riders involved were unharmed.

After the comments and declarations that have been made, Johann Zarco is very affected, as at no time did he intend to carry out a manoeuvre that would endanger any other opponent. With no time to rest, next weekend Esponsorama Racing will have another chance to show its great potential at the same Red Bull Ring – Spielberg, in this case for the Styria Grand Prix.

“A pity Sunday because I got a big crash in the race with Franco Morbidelli. On the brake he touched me, and we flew away, he has been surprised because we were so close and with the speed it was not easy to slow down. Then we have been scared because our bikes really could hit somebody but finally no one was really injured, so that is the most important thing. It is a pity because I got a good weekend, I was competitive, and I could expect a great result in the race. It was maybe the race where I can have the best pace during the 28 laps, but it finished before. It is very important to have next race in the same place and next week. I need to improve to have the chance to fight for the podium, so I will rest the maximum during the three days and work well next week.”

“I had a pretty good start and was able to move up two positions. After that it was difficult to keep up with the pace, however, the front group wasn’t far away and we were able to finish the race, although without points. We are going through a little bit of a bump, but next week we will have a new opportunity.”

El Esponsorama Racing ha concluido la cuarta cita del mundial, el Gran Premio de Austria, con Tito Rabat en 16ª posición y con un aparatoso accidente de Johann Zarco.

El piloto francés, que en el día de ayer completó una buena sesión clasificatoria que le permitía arrancar la carrera en 9ª posición, estaba realizando una gran actuación luchando por las posiciones cabeceras. A falta de 20 vueltas para el final, Zarco se ha visto envuelto en un desafortunado incidente y ha sido embestido por Franco Morbidelli en la tercera curva, causando un espectacular y aparatoso accidente que le ha impedido finalizar una carrera que prometía un exitoso resultado. Tras el impacto, ambas motos han salido disparadas y apunto han estado de alcanzar a Rossi y Viñales, pero por suerte, tanto Zarco como todos los pilotos involucrados han salido ilesos.

Después de los comentarios y declaraciones que han ido apareciendo, Johann Zarco se muestra muy afectado ya que en ningún momento ha tenido la intención de realizar una maniobra que pusiera en peligro a ningún otro contrincante. No obstante, el piloto francés del Esponsorama Racing ha querido disculparse y aclarar con todos y cada uno de los pilotos involucrados en este lance de carrera. Pese a ello, tras la disputa del Gran Premio de Austria, la telemetría ha mostrado que, en el momento del accidente, Zarco frena más tarde en la curva 3 que en el resto de las vueltas de la carrera, por lo que de este análisis se desprende que en ningún momento su intención es perjudicar en la frenada de Morbidelli y cerrar la trazada de este.

Por su parte, Tito Rabat que logró el 21º mejor tiempo en la sesión clasificatoria, ha ejecutado una sólida carrera y remontada, aunque no le ha permitido entrar a la zona de puntos por tan solo un segundo. El piloto barcelonés, tras reemprenderse la carrera después de la bandera roja, ha llegado a colocarse dentro del Top-15, pero finalmente se ha tenido que conformar con la 16ª posición.

Sin tiempo para descansar, el próximo fin de semana el Esponsorama Racing tendrá una nueva oportunidad de volver a mostrar su gran potencial en el mismo Red Bull Ring – Spielberg, en este caso para disputar el Gran Premio de Styria.

“Una pena el domingo porque he tenido un gran accidente en la carrera con Franco Morbidelli. En la frenada me ha tocado, y hemos salido volando. Se ha sorprendido porque estábamos muy cerca y con la velocidad no era fácil reducir la velocidad. Luego nos hemos asustado porque nuestras motos realmente podrían haber golpeado a alguien pero finalmente nadie se ha lesionado, así que eso es lo más importante. Es una lástima porque he tenido un buen fin de semana, he sido competitivo y esperaba un gran resultado en la carrera. Tal vez esta era la carrera en la que podía tener el mejor ritmo durante las 28 vueltas, pero terminó temprano. Es muy importante tener la próxima carrera en el mismo circuito y la próxima semana. Aún necesito mejorar para tener la oportunidad de luchar por el podio, así que descansaré al máximo durante estos tres días y trabajaré bien la próxima semana”.

“He tenido una salida bastante buena y he podido ascender dos posiciones. Después ha sido complicado seguir el ritmo, de todas maneras, el grupo delantero no estaba muy lejos y hemos podido acabar la carrera, aunque sin puntos. Estamos pasando por un pequeño bache, pero la semana que viene tendremos una nueva oportunidad.”

After the Austrian Grand Prix qualifying session, Esponsorama Racing will start tomorrow’s race at the Red Bull Ring – Spielberg with Johann Zarco and Tito Rabat in 9th and 21st position respectively.

Despite the great pace shown during yesterday’s and this morning’s free practice, Johann Zarco had to go through Q1 which, after setting the best time of the session, qualified to Q2. Despite not being able to complete a perfect last lap when he was disturbed by an opponent, thanks to a time of 1:23.828 and being only three tenths of a second off pole position, Zarco will start from the third row of the grid, which will allow him to fight for a good result from an advanced position.

Tito Rabat showed a positive evolution from the first free practice yesterday morning until the qualifying session. The Barcelona-based rider, after setting a time of 1:25.287, will be fighting for points positions from the seventh row of the grid.

Tomorrow at 14:00 the Austrian Grand Prix will start, which will be the fourth race of the season for the MotoGP class.

“Happy about today. Overall, this afternoon the job has been good. When I missed the good lap this morning in FP3 it was a shame to have to do de Q1, but finally it has been a good opportunity to do more laps. FP4 has been quite good and then in Q1 I did a good lap, so I could be qualified and go to Q2. Then I expected to improve my lap time but it was not easy and at the end I finished 9th, only three tenths of the top and this is positive. I have a lot of chances to do tomorrow a good race, I just need to see how are going to be the conditions because it seems we can have some rain. So, I am working with the team to improve and to see what I can do better. We’ll see if tomorrow I can do all these things.”

“Difficult weekend and there’s been a lot of rain. In the first FP3 the track was very dirty and it was difficult to be consistent in the times. In FP4 we tried to be as consistent as possible and have a good base of information for tomorrow’s race. In qualifying, on the first attempt I went long in turn 3 and on the second I ended up in the gravel, luckily I didn’t crash. Tomorrow in the warm-up we will go as far as we can and I am optimistic for the race.

Tras la disputa de la sesión clasificatoria del Gran Premio de Austria, el Esponsorama Racing arrancará la carrera de mañana en el Red Bull Ring – Spielberg con Johann Zarco y Tito Rabat en 9ª y 21ª posición respectivamente.

Pese al gran ritmo mostrado durante los entrenamientos libres de ayer y de esta mañana, Johann Zarco ha tenido que pasar por la Q1 que, tras marcar el mejor tiempo de la sesión, ha logrado acceder a la Q2. Finalmente, a pesar de no poder completar una última vuelta perfecta al verse molestado por un rival, gracias a un registro de 1:23.828 y quedarse a tan solo tres décimas de la ‘pole position’, Zarco partirá desde la tercera línea de parrilla, lo que le permitirá luchar por un buen resultado desde una posición avanzada.

Por su parte, Tito Rabat ha mostrado una evolución positiva desde el primer entrenamiento libre disputado ayer por la mañana hasta la sesión clasificatoria. El piloto barcelonés, tras marcar un tiempo de 1:25.287, luchará por remontar posiciones desde la séptima línea de la parrilla de salida.

Mañana a las 14:00 dará comienzo la carrera del Gran Premio de Austria, la que será la cuarta de la temporada para la categoría de MotoGP.

“Feliz con el día de hoy. En general, esta tarde el trabajo ha sido bueno. Cuando perdí la buena vuelta de esta mañana en el FP3 fue una pena tener que hacer la Q1, pero finalmente ha sido una buena oportunidad para hacer más vueltas. La FP4 ha sido bastante buena y luego en la Q1 hice una buena vuelta para poder clasificarme e ir a la Q2. Luego esperaba mejorar mi tiempo de vuelta, pero no fue fácil y al final terminé noveno, a sólo tres décimas de la cabeza y esto es positivo. Tengo muchas posibilidades de hacer mañana una buena carrera, sólo necesito ver cómo van a ser las condiciones porque parece que podemos tener algo de lluvia. Por lo tanto, estoy trabajando con el equipo para mejorar y ver qué puedo hacer mejor. Veremos mañana si puedo hacer todas estas cosas.”

“Fin de semana complicado y ha habido mucha lluvia. En el primer FP3 estaba muy sucia la pista y ha sido difícil poder ser constantes en los tiempos. En el FP4 hemos intentado tener la máxima constancia posible y tener una buena base de información de cara a la carrera de mañana. En la clasificación, en el primer intento me he ido largo en la curva 3 y en el segundo he acabado en la grava, por suerte no me he caído. Mañana en el ‘warm-up’ iremos al máximo que podamos y de cara a la carrera soy optimista.”
