Avintia Esponsorama and Sky VR46 Avintia have finished the Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini qualifying, where both riders had to compete in Q1.

Enea Bastianini was able to make it through the Q1 cut after finishing 1st. In Q2, the Italian rider couldn’t go further than 12th position as he couldn’t complete almost any fast lap. His best time was cancelled for exceeding the track limits and, on his last attempt, he had to abort the lap due to a yellow flag.

Luca Marini will start the race in Misano in 15th position. After a difficult Friday where he didn’t find a good feeling on the bike, the VR46 Academy rider made an important step forward on Saturday. In qualifying, Marini managed to set a good lap that will allow him to start the race in a good position to fight for the points.

Tomorrow at 14:00, Bastianini and Marini will fight in the race of the Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini to continue scoring important points for the team.

“It’s important to be in Q2, although I could have done more. However, I didn’t feel as good as I did in Q1 and it was a shame because I’m sure we could have finished in the top 6. We have improved a lot throughout the weekend and the track conditions are constantly changing. I think if we keep going like this we can do well in the race.”

“Yesterday we struggled, but today we worked well and made a good step forward. I’m riding better even though we are still a little bit short in terms of set-up to be 100%. We are going in the right direction, maybe I could have done more in Q1 by putting the hard tyre on immediately. I went out for the first time attack on the medium to get more grip, but the hard tyre would probably have given me more stability. El Avintia Esponsorama y el Sky VR46 Avintia han finalizado la clasificación del Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, donde ambos pilotos han tenido que disputar la Q1.

Enea Bastianini ha podido superar el corte de la Q1 tras quedar 1º. Finalmente en la Q2, el piloto italiano no ha podido ir más allá de la 12ª posición al no poder completar prácticamente ninguna vuelta rápida. Su mejor tiempo ha sido anulado por superar los límites de la pista y, en su último intento, ha tenido que abortar la vuelta debido a una bandera amarilla.

Luca Marini arrancará la carrera en Misano en 15ª posición. Tras un viernes complicado donde no encontró un buen ‘feeling’ encima de la moto, el piloto de la VR46 Academy ha dado un paso adelante importante este sábado. Finalmente, en la clasificación, Marini ha conseguido cuadrar una buena vuelta que le permitirá arrancar la carrera en una buena posición para luchar por los puntos.

Mañana a las 14:00, Bastianini y Marini lucharán en la carrera del Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini para seguir sumando puntos importantes para el equipo.

“Es importante estar en la Q2, aunque podría haber hecho algo más. Sin embargo, no me he sentido tan bien como en la Q1 y ha sido una lástima porque estoy seguro que podríamos haber acabado entre los 6 primeros. Hemos mejorado mucho durante todo el fin de semana y las condiciones de la pista están cambiando constantemente. Creo que si seguimos así lo podemos hacer bien en la carrera.”

“Ayer nos costó, pero hoy hemos trabajado bien y hemos dado un buen paso adelante. Estoy pilotando mejor aunque todavía nos falta algo en cuanto a la configuración para estar al 100%. Vamos en la dirección correcta, tal vez podría haber hecho más en la Q1 poniendo el neumático duro inmediatamente. He salido al primer ‘time attack’ con el medio para conseguir más agarre, pero el neumático duro probablemente me habría dado más estabilidad. Vamos a ver los datos, la elección de neumáticos para mañana ya está bastante definida y resolveremos los últimos detalles.”

Avintia Esponsorama and Sky VR46 Avintia completed the first day of the Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, where rain was the main protagonist at the Misano circuit.

Enea Bastianini was 12th in the combined free practice times with a time of 1:33.314 achieved in the morning, as most of the practice has been held in dry conditions. In the second free practice, the Italian suffered a crash without consequences and, due to the rain, like the other riders, he did not improve his lap times.

Luca Marini finished the first day 23rd with a best time of 1:34.037. The Sky VR46 Avintia rider worked on the set-up and, step by step, improved his feeling on the bike.

Tomorrow at 9:55am the third practice of the premier class will start, followed by the fourth free practice and the Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini qualifying.

“It was a difficult day. We had a good start and immediately I felt pretty good on the bike. I didn’t feel quite comfortable under braking, so that’s something we’ll have to work on tomorrow. It rained in the afternoon, so I took it easy. We’ll keep working tomorrow, but overall it was a good start.”

“Today was definitely one of the hardest days of the season as I didn’t find the feeling I was looking for in the dry or in the wet. We couldn’t do much work, FP1 finished earlier than planned and FP2 was in wet conditions. Tomorrow we will have to make some changes to the bike because it’s difficult for me and I can’t do what I want to do. We will keep working to find a solution.”

Enea Bastianini ha sido 12º en la clasificación combinada con un tiempo de 1:33.314 conseguido en la jornada matinal, ya que gran parte del entreno se ha disputado en condiciones de seco. En el segundo entrenamiento libre, el italiano ha sufrido una caída sin consecuencias y, debido a la lluvia, al igual que el resto de pilotos no ha mejorado sus registros.

Luca Marini ha terminado el primer día 23º con un mejor tiempo de 1:34.037. El piloto del Sky VR46 Avintia ha trabajado en la puesta a punto y poco a poco, ha ido mejorando sus sensaciones encima de la moto.

Mañana a partir de las 9:55 empezará el tercer entrenamiento de la categoría reina, y, posteriormente, el cuarto entrenamiento libre y la clasificación del Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini.

“Ha sido un día difícil. Hemos tenido un buen comienzo e inmediatamente me he sentido bastante bien encima de la moto. No me he acabado de sentir del todo cómodo en la frenada, por lo que es algo en lo que tendremos que trabajar mañana. Por la tarde ha llovido, así que me he tomado con calma. Mañana seguiremos trabajando, pero en general ha sido un buen comienzo.”

“Hoy ha sido sin duda uno de los días más duros de la temporada ya que no he encontrado la sensación que buscaba ni en seco ni en mojado. No hemos podido trabajar mucho, el FP1 ha terminado antes de lo previsto y el FP2 ha sido en mojado. Mañana deberemos hacer cambios en la moto porque me cuesta y no puedo hacer lo que quiero. Seguiremos trabajando para encontrar una solución.”

“Estamos en el gran premio de casa. Venimos de una muy buena carrera en Aragón, donde terminamos en una excelente 6ª posición. Misano es obviamente un circuito que conozco muy bien y está a 10 minutos de mi casa. Este fin de semana me gustaría seguir como lo hicimos en la última carrera y desde luego que será un gran premio muy especial. Intentaremos ir rápidos desde el principio para repetir otro buen resultado.”

Avintia Esponsorama and Sky VR46 Avintia completed the Gran Premio Tissot de Aragón race.

Enea Bastianini, who crossed the finish line in a spectacular 6th position, achieved his best race result since his debut in the MotoGP class. The Italian had an intense fight in the third group of the race, from which he emerged victorious, and only 2 seconds separated him from the top 5.

Luca Marini had to settle for 20th position. The Sky VR46 Avintia rider had a difficult weekend overall and was unable to finish the race at MotorLand Aragón in the points.

“It was a very enjoyable race. At the beginning I struggled in the corners, but from the middle of the race onwards I improved and from then on I started my comeback. It’s a pity that I lost a bit of time fighting with Quartararo and Nakagami, because maybe I could have caught Miller as well. Anyway, it was a race that exceeded my expectations. I think we showed great pace throughout the weekend and we’ll go to Misano in really motivated.”

El Avintia Esponsorama y el Sky VR46 Avintia han completado la carrera del Gran Premio Tissot de Aragón.

Enea Bastianini, que ha cruzado la línea de meta en una espectacular 6ª posición, ha conseguido el mejor resultado en carrera desde su debut en la categoría de MotoGP. El italiano ha tenido una intensa lucha en el tercer grupo de carrera, de la cuál ha salido victorioso, y tan solo 2 segundos le han separado del top 5.

Luca Marini ha tenido que conformarse con la 20ª posición. El piloto del Sky VR46 Avintia ha tenido un fin de semana, en general, complicado y no ha podido terminar la carrera en MotorLand Aragón en zona de puntos.

La semana que viene, el Avintia Esponsorama y el Sky VR46 Avintia aterrizarán en el Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli para disputar el Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini.

“Ha sido una carrera muy divertida. Al principio he sufrido en el paso por curva, pero desde la mitad de la carrera en adelante he ido mejorando y, a partir de ahí, ha comenzado mi remontada. Lástima que he perdido un poco de tiempo con Quartararo y Nakagami, ya que tal vez hubiera podido atrapar a Miller también. De todas formas, ha sido una carrera que ha superado mis expectativas. Creo que hemos mostrado un gran ritmo durante todo el fin de semana y llegaremos a Misano con la moral muy alta.”

“Una carrera muy difícil, no tengo mucho más que decir. Un fin de semana complicado y mucho trabajo por hacer para poder dar un paso adelante y ser competitivos para el GP de casa.”

Enea Bastianini and Luca Marini will start the Gran Premio Tissot de Aragón in 9th and 17th position respectively.

For the first time this season, Bastianini made it through to Q2 after being very competitive during free practice sessions. The Italian was 9th with a time of 1:47.278, his best qualifying position since his debut in the MotoGP class.

Luca Marini finished the qualifying session 17th with a best time of 1:47.741. With this grid position, the Sky VR46 Avintia rider will have a good chance to fight for points in the race.

Tomorrow at 14:00 the race of the Gran Premio Tissot de Aragón will start, where Bastianini and Marini will be looking for a good result.

“I’m happy because it was my first Q2 of the season and I felt pretty good all day. It was a pity I couldn’t close the second fastest lap, plus I struggled a bit with the front tyre and didn’t get the time I wanted. Anyway, it’s good to start from the third row, and we showed a good pace in free practices as well, so I think we can have a good race tomorrow.”

“Compared to yesterday, we made a good step forward in the bike set-up. In FP4 I rode better and I was able to get closer to the group, although I would need one more day of work to be completely comfortable with the bike and to close the gap. In any case, we will continue to analyse the data to set up the electronics better and to be able to be consistent in long runs. I don’t think we will make any big changes in the warm up because it’s at a time when the track temperature is completely different to the race. We are still deciding which tyre to use tomorrow, most of the riders seem to be orientated with the hard front and the medium rear.”

Mañana a las 14:00 dará comienzo la carrera del Gran Premio Tissot de Aragón, dónde Bastianini y Marini buscarán conseguir un buen resultado.

“Estoy contento porque ha sido mi primera Q2 de la temporada y me he sentido bastante bien durante todo el día. Ha sido una pena no poder cerrar la segunda vuelta rápida, además de que he sufrido un poco con la goma delantera y no he conseguido el tiempo que quería. De todas formas, es bueno empezar desde la tercera fila, y hemos mostrado un buen ritmo también en los entrenamientos, así que creo que podemos hacer una buena carrera mañana.”

“En comparación con ayer, hemos dado un buen paso adelante en la configuración. En el FP4 he rodado mejor y he podido acercarme al grupo, aunque necesitaría un día más de trabajo para poder estar completamente cómodo con la moto y acabar de cerrar la diferencia. En cualquier caso, seguiremos analizando los datos para configurar mejor la electrónica y poder ser constantes en tandas largas. No creo que hagamos grandes cambios en el ‘warm up’ porque es en un momento en el que la temperatura de la pista es completamente distinta a la de la carrera. Todavía estamos decidiendo qué neumático usar mañana, la mayoría de los pilotos parecen estar orientados con el duro delantero y el medio trasero.”
