MotoGP Test Tailandia – Chang International Circuit

Els pilots de l’equip Reale Avintia Racing, Tito Rabat i Xavier Simeon han acabat els tres dies d’entrenaments al Chang International Circuit satisfets. L’espanyol ha resolt gairebé del tot la seva falta de confiança amb el tren davanter de la moto i en el pròxim test a Qatar espera comptar amb noves peces de Ducati que l’ajudin a fer un altre pas endavant.

L’ex campió del món de Moto2 ha gaudit sobre de la moto i ha acabat una altra vegada molt a prop dels més ràpids. El seu somriure en acabar els entrenaments és la millor prova de que tot va bé i que amb l’equip Reale Avintia pot aspirar a aconseguir bons resultats en 2018.

Per Xavi Simeon no ha estat tan fàcil, però després de quedar-se estancat durant el segon dia avui ha fet una bona millora. El pilot belga té molt per aprendre de la nova categoria i, a més de seguir treballant en el seu estil de pilotatge, també ha de conèixer millor la moto i els pneumàtics per poder treure’n tot el partit.

Ara Rabat i Simeon tindran un parell de setmanes per preparar l’últim test de la pretemporada 2018, que tindrà lloc a Qatar l’1 al 3 de març.

“Estic molt content perquè han estat tres dies molt positius, sobretot per que hem aconseguit ser més competitius. Des del primer test teníem un problema amb el tren davanter de la moto que no em deixava estrènyer al màxim i ens quèiem en les corbes que no tens tant suport davant, però a poc a poc hem trobat el camí per millorar i, sobretot, per no caure. Tot i així hem de seguir treballant per anar més segurs en els revolts ràpids i, amb l’ajuda de Ducati, a Qatar espere poder donar un altre pas en aquesta direcció per seguir guanyant confiança en els revolts ràpids. L’equip un cop més ha fet una feina increïble i m’ha ajudat molt a millorar. Ara toca agafar forces per l’últim test de la pretemporada “.

“L’últim dia ha anat millor, no molt millor, però sí prou. Sobretot he millorat molt amb pneumàtics usats i tenim clar que amb el tema dels pneumàtics tenim un gran treball per davant. Ha estat una mica frustrant perquè cada vegada que he sortit amb gomes noves no donava el salt esperat i amb pneumàtic de 25 voltes estava marcant els meus millors temps. Per això he de comprendre bé com funcionen els Michelin. A causa de la configuració d’aquesta pista és important no forçar molt el pneumàtic en alguns revolts i en altres sí que cal fer-ho. En aquesta pista no he pogut fer-ho perquè encara no tinc la confiança necessària amb la moto. Però en general el test ha estat positiu i hem tret molt bones conclusions. El no haver millorat tant com esperava també té el seu costat positiu, perquè et fa veure que MotoGP és una categoria molt complicada.”

MotoGP Thai Test – Chang International Circuit

The second day of testing at the Chang International Circuit was very intense for the MotoGP riders, with temperatures that almost reached 50 degrees of the asphalt and 37 of the air. The sweltering heat didn’t stop Reale Avintia Racing rider Tito Rabat from completing 69 laps on his Ducati Desmosedici GP17 to finish twelfth in the standings, with a gap of just half a second to the ‘top 5’. Better still, Rabat’s ongoing lack of confidence for the front, a problem that haunted him since the last test in Malaysia, seems to be solved and now he can push even with the harder tyre compound of Michelin.
His teammate Xavi Simeon started the day very well, as he immediately improved his pace from yesterday. Afterwards he didn’t manage to make progress with the set-up of his bike and ended up a bit disappointed. But the Belgian is far from panicking, since the tests are there to try different things and, after many seasons in Moto2, also to learn everything about MotoGP, a much more demanding category in every aspect.
Despite being only a test, Thai fans have flocked to Buriram crowding the stands of the main straigh and more than 30,000 spectators are expected for tomorrow.

“I’m very happy because today we were able to work a lot on the bike. I’m even more happy because I’ve built a lot of confidence with the front. Until today, this was the negative point with my bike, because whenever I pushed a little more I crashed and this wasn’t good. But today I didn’t crash, and we were able to try the hardest Michelin front for the first time with positive results. In the final minutes I grabbed a new set of tyres and I did a good lap time, but the most important thing for me is that we have been fast and consistent with old tyres. Tonight I have to rest well to start full throttle tomorrow”.

“It was a strange day. We started well in the morning and on the first exit I was faster than yesterday straight away and since the lap time came easily, the expectations were quite high. A little later I had a small crash entering the last corner, which didn’t make me lose confidence because I was going really slow. But then as the day went on, we were not able to improve and I think we lost a bit the way with the set-up. I was hitting a wall with my pace and I couldn’t lap in 1’31. But this is testing. Sometimes you take the wrong the direction with the bike, which I’m sure will help me to learn more about MotoGP. I said yesterday that the track seemed easy, but it’s not that easy after all, which we confirmed today”.

El segundo día de test en el Chang International Circuit ha sido muy intenso para los pilotos de MotoGP, con temperaturas que han rozado los 50 grados en el asfalto y 37 en el aire. Pero eso no ha impedido al piloto de Reale Avintia Racing, Tito Rabat, completar 69 vueltas sobre su Ducati Desmosedici GP17 para terminar el día duodécimo y a solo medio segundo de entrar en el ‘top 5’. Pero lo más positivo para Rabat es que los problemas de confianza en el tren delantero que le perseguían desde el pasado test en Malasia han desaparecido por completo y ahora puede apretar fuerte hasta con el compuesto más duro de Michelin.

Su compañero Xavi Simeon ha comenzado muy bien el día, bajando de inmediatos su mejor tiempo del primer día, pero después no ha conseguido avanzar con la puesta a punto de su moto y ha terminado un poco contrariado. Pero el belga no entra en pánico, porque como él mismo dice, los test son para probar y, en su caso, después de muchas temporadas en Moto2, también para aprender todo sobre MotoGP, una categoría más exigente en todos los aspectos.

A pesar de ser solo un test, los aficionados tailandeses han acudido en masa a Buriram abarrotando las gradas de la tribuna principal y, para mañana domingo se esperan más de 30.000 espectadores.

“Estoy muy contento porque ha sido un día en el que hemos podido trabajar mucho sobre la moto, pero sobre todo porque hemos ganado mucha confianza en con tren delantero. Era el único punto negativo, porque siempre que apretaba un poco más me caía y me estaba haciendo perder confianza. Pero hoy no hemos caído, es más, hasta hemos probado por primera vez la dura delante y nos ha ido bien. Al final he montado neumáticos nuevos y hemos podido hacer un buen tiempo, pero sobre todo hemos sido rápidos y consistentes con gomas viejas. Esta noche hay que descansar bien para empezar a fondo mañana”.

“Ha sido un día extraño. Por la mañana hemos comenzado bien y en la primera salida hemos rodado más rápido que ayer con bastante facilidad, por lo tanto las expectativas eran bastante buenas. Después he sufrido una pequeña caída entrando en meta, pero eso no me ha hecho perder confianza porque iba parado. Después no hemos conseguido mejorar y pienso que nos hemos perdido un poco con la puesta a punto. Me he quedado un poco bloqueado en los mismos tiempos y no he podido bajar a 1’31. Pero así son los test, no siempre aciertas con la dirección a seguir con la moto y seguro que esto nos sirve para aprender. Ya dije ayer que la pista parece fácil y hoy lo hemos podido comprobar”.

Els pilots de l’equip Reale Avintia Racing, Tito Rabat i Xavier Simeon, han tingut la seva primera de contacte amb el Chang International Circuit , el nou traçat tailandès que s’ha incorporat al calendari de MotoGP per a la temporada 2018. El traçat sobre el paper sembla fàcil , amb poques corbes i moltes rectes, però tant Rabat com Simeon han coincidit que és molt més tècnic del que sembla a primera vista.

Tito Rabat ha començat força bé, però a meitat del matí ha patit una caiguda al perdre la roda davantera entrant al revolt set, una caiguda molt semblant a les dues que ja va patir fa un parell de setmanes a Malàisia. Després de reparar la moto ha tornat a pista i, després de variar la posada a punt per tenir millors sensacions amb la roda davantera, s’ha concentrat en buscar el seu propi ritme amb molt bons resultats.

El seu company al Reale Avintia, Xavi Simeon, ha continuat amb el seu procés d’aprenentatge i s’ha trobat bastant còmode al circuit de 4.554 metres. El pilot belga de 28 anys també s’ha anat a terra al revolt deu i això li ha privat de rodar tot el que li hauria agradat. Però la part positiva és que després de tornar a pista ràpidament ha tornat a igualar els seus millors temps del matí.


“M’ha agradat molt el circuit i és molt divertit. Té diverses parts que m’han recordat a Qatar, altres a Texas … compta amb diverses rectes bastant llargues i l’asfalt és bo, tot i que al principi estava una mica brut. Però la primera impressió ha estat molt bona. L’únic negatiu és que he caigut i com a Malàisia no sabem per què. Sembla ser que estem trobant el camí perquè és important saber el nostre límit per acabar les carreres. Ens hem centrat en millorar el feeling davanter i amb diversos canvis en la posada a punt m’he trobat millor. L’equip ha treballat molt bé i està tot molt ajustat, però hem de millorar, perquè sempre acabem a set dècimes hi ha veure si aconseguim deixar-lo en mig segon “.

“El primer dia aquí a Tailàndia ha anat molt bé fins que he caigut al revolt 10 després de perdre la roda davantera. La caiguda ha estat una mica rara, per una petita errada, però després hem perdut molt temps perquè la moto ha quedat bastant tocada. Al final he sortit una altra vegada, he pogut donar cinc voltes per intentar millorar els meus temps i, encara que no ho he aconseguit, sí que he pogut igualar-lo. Crec que ha estat positiu, demà tornarem a sortir amb les mateixes sensacions que hem acabat avui i intentarem millorar més.”

MotoGP Thai Test – Chang International Circuit

Reale Avintia Racing Team riders Tito Rabat and Xavier Simeon had their first contact with the Chang International Circuit today. The layout of the Thai track, that has been added to the MotoGP calendar for the 2018 season, looks easy on paper, with few turns and many straights, but Rabat and Simeon agreed that the circuit is much more tricky than it seems at first sight.
Tito Rabat started quite well but at mid-morning, he lost the front in turn seven and crashed, a very similar incident to the two falls he had a couple of weeks ago in Malaysia. After repairing the bike he went back on the track and, after changing the set-up of his Ducati in search of a better feeling with the front, he focused on finding his own pace with very good results.
His teammate Xavi Simeon continued with his learning process and found himself quite comfortable around the 4.554km circuit. The 28-year-old Belgian rider also crashed in turn ten, which forced him to sit and wait in the garage until his bike was ready to go again. After going back on track again, he quickly matched his best lap times from the morning.

“I like the circuit and I had a lot fun. It has several parts that reminded me of Qatar, others of Texas… it has some long straights and the asphalt is okay, although at the beginning of the day it was a little bit dirty. But the first impression was very good. The only negative thing to report is my crash and, as in Malaysia, we do not know why. Despite this setback, it seems that we are finding the right way, which is important because we need to know our limit in order to finish the races. We focused on improving the feeling with the front and with some changes to the set-up, I had a better feeling. The team worked very well and everything is very tight with 20 riders within just one second. Now we need to improve further. We always finish 0.7s behind, so it would be great if we could leave Thailand with a gap of only half a second”.

“The first day here in Thailand went very well until I crashed at turn 10 when I lost the front. The crash was a little strange, I just made a small mistake… but afterwards we lost a lot of time because the bike was quite damaged. In the end I went out again and I could do five laps to try to improve my lap times. Even though I was not able to improve, I was able to match my previous lap times quite easy, which was positive. Tomorrow, we’ll start from where we finished today and we’ll try to improve more. We are not far away, but we have to avoid these little mistakes. The standings are very tight and you have to make the most of the time on the track”.

Los pilotos del equipo Reale Avintia Racing, Tito Rabat y Xavier Simeon, han tenido su primera de contacto con el Chang International Circuit, el nuevo trazado tailandés que se ha incorporado al calendario de MotoGP para la temporada 2018. El trazado sobre el papel parece fácil, con pocas curvas y muchas rectas, pero tanto Rabat como Simeon han coincidido en que es mucho más técnico de lo que parece a primera vista.

Tito Rabat ha comenzado bastante bien, pero a mitad de la mañana ha sufrido una caída al perder la rueda delantera entrando en la curva siete, una caída muy parecida a las dos que ya sufrió hace un par de semanas en Malasia. Tras reparar la moto ha vuelto a pista y, después de variar la puesta a punto para tener mejores sensaciones con la rueda delantera, se ha concentrado en buscar su propio ritmo con muy buenos resultados.

Su compañero en el Reale Avintia, Xavi Simeon, ha seguido con su proceso de aprendizaje y se ha encontrado bastante cómodo en el circuito de 4.554 metros. El piloto belga de 28 años también se ha ido al suelo en la curva diez y esto le ha privado de rodar todo lo que le hubiera gustado. Pero lo positivo es que tras volver a pista rápidamente ha vuelto a igualar sus mejores tiempos de la mañana.

“Me ha gustado mucho el circuito y es muy divertido. Tiene varias partes que me han recordado a Qatar, otras a Texas… cuenta con varias rectas bastante largas y el asfalto es bueno, aunque al principio estaba un poco sucio. Pero la primera impresión ha sido muy buena. Lo único negativo es que me he caído y como en Malasia no sabemos por qué. Parece ser que estamos encontrando el camino porque es importante saber nuestro límite para terminar las carreras. Nos hemos centrado en mejorar el feeling delante y con varios cambios en la puesta a punto me he encontrado mejor. El equipo ha trabajado muy bien y está todo muy apretado, pero tenemos que mejorar, porque siempre terminamos a siete décimas y a ver si conseguimos dejarlo en medio segundo”.

“El primer día aquí en Tailandia ha ido muy bien hasta que me he caído en la curva 10 tras perder la rueda delantera. La caída ha sido un poco rara, por un pequeño error, pero después hemos perdido mucho tiempo porque la moto ha quedado bastante tocada. Al final he salido otra vez, he podido dar cinco vueltas para intentar mejorar mis tiempos y, aunque no lo he conseguido, sí que he podido igualarlo. Creo que ha sido positivo, mañana volveremos a salir con las mismas sensaciones que hemos terminado hoy e intentaremos mejorar más. No estamos muy lejos, pero tenemos que evitar estos pequeños errores. Está todo muy apretado y hay que aprovechar al máximo el tiempo en la pista”.

30/01/18 Sepang MotoGP Test – Sepang International Circuit

The Reale Avintia Racing Team leaves Malaysia with good feelings after three days of testing at the Sepang International Circuit, with Tito Rabat and Xavi Simeon constantly progressing.

The Spanish rider completed several laps under two minutes and was inside the ‘top 6’ for a while to remain in ninth place with two hours to go. On the last afternoon, the plan was to complete a full race simulation, but his run was interrupted when he crashed on the ninth of 20 laps. Despite his incident, Rabat left the circuit very satisfied after finishing the test with the twelfth fastest lap, only 0.717s behind Jorge Lorenzo, who was flying aboard his factory Ducati in Sepang today. “It has been a very positive test because I’ve managed to go fast with a very good pace while riding alone. Every time I’m more comfortable with the bike and the team has been doing a great job during the three days. In the afternoon we did a race simulation, but I crashed and so we couldn’t finish it. The positive thing is that we know why it happened, it was the same as the first day and in the same turn, running the medium front tyre. This tyre does not warn you before the limit as we already know, but now we have things clear for the next test. I’m very happy with the result of these tests, with the team, with the bike and with my physical condition. Now it’s time to train hard at home to get ready for Thailand”.

“To be honest I’m very happy because we’ve been working step by step and every day I’ve improved the lap times and, what is more important, I’ve improved my feeling with the bike. For the first time I was able to make changes on the set-up, understand the bike better and how it needs to be ridden. That also allowed me to concentrate on my riding and on such a difficult track like this, we managed to lap in 2’00 which is not bad for my first time at Sepang with a MotoGP bike. I am working very well with the team and they have given me very good indications. Also Rubén (Xaus) has helped me a lot and with his experience I have been able to advance faster and in the end we were with the other ‘rookies’. Now we need to continue working at home to start over in Thailand form where we have left off here”.

L’Equip Reale Avintia Racing deixa Malàsia amb molt bones sensacions després de tres dies d’entrenaments en que Tito Rabat i Xavi Simeon no han de deixat de progressar.

L’espanyol ha aconseguit aquesta matí donar varies voltes per sota dels dos minutsii ha arribat a estar al top 6. A la tarda el pla erra fer una simulació de carrera completa, però tampoc ha pogut ser finalment en caure en la novena de les vint voltes tenia programades. Però tot i això Rabat ha acabat molt satisfet després de acabar el test amb el 1 dotzè millor temps a 0.717s de Jorge Lorenzo, que avui ha volat baix volat amb la seva Ducati oficial a Sepang. Rabat esta desitjan yotnar a l’ acció dintre dues semanes a Tailàndia, on tindra lloc e Segon test oficial de tres dies en el nou circuit de Buriram.

El seu company al Reale Avintia Racing, Xavier Simeon, ha seguit amb el seu pla de Treball que una vegada més se ha centrat en progressar sobre la moto i adaptar el seu estil de pilotatge de la categoria de MotoGP. El Belga ha completat 30 voltes i ha aconseguit rodar en 2’00, que era un dels objectius que l’equip que se havia marcat abans de arribar a Malàisia. A demés els seus temps son similars a 1 el altres pilot de Moto2, entre ells , el Campió i el subcampió de la temporada passada. Per tant també per a Simeon el test de Sepang provar ha estat molt positiu.

“Ha estat un test molt positiu perquè he aconseguit anar l’rapidi amb moltbon ritme només jo sol, cada vegada em trobo més a gust amb la moto i el del meu equip de fet deun grandíssim treball durant els tresdies. A la tarda hem fet un simulacre de carrera, però m ́he caigut i no hem pogut acabar-lo. Lo bó és que sabem per que ha estat, ja ens va passar el primer dia i en la mateixa corba amb la goma migs devantera . Aquest pneumàtics no avisa, però com ja ho sabem tenim les coses clares per a la pròxima prova. Estic molt content de com han anat aquest test, amb el equip amb la moto i com jo em trobo físicament. Ara toca entrenar al màxim aquest dies pera posar-se a punt per Tailànda.”

“La veritat és que estic molt satisfet perquè hem anat pas a pas i cada dia he millorat els temps i i lo que és mes Important, que he millorat les meves sensacions amb la moto. Per primera vegada que he pogut fer canvi en la posada a punt, entendre la moto, i com és pilota. Això també a mi m’ha permès concentrar-me en la conducció i aquí es una pista complicada que hem aconseguit rodar en 2’00 que no està gens malament per a ser la meva primera en Sepang amb una MotoGP. m ́he trobat molt bé amb l’equip i també m ́han donat molt bones Indicacions. També Rubén (Xaus) m ́ha ajudat moltíssim i amb la seva experiència he avançar molt ràpid i i al finals ens hem acostat als altres “ rookies”. Ara a seguir treballant a casa per a tornar a començar a Tailàndia on ho hem deixat aquí.”

29/01/18 Sepang MotoGP Test – Sepang International Circuit

When MotoGP riders arrived this morning to Sepang, they’ve found a damp track after overnight rain, but unlike yesterday the Malaysian sun was shining and the track surface dried up quickly. Before lunch time, Reale Avintia Racing riders were ready to jump on their bikes and continue working.
Tito Rabat improved again his rhthym and compared to the first day his race pace was a second faster. The former Moto2 World Champion has been working very well with his crew and improved in more than half a second his best lap time from the first day, even so, he wanted to improve a bit more at the end. In the 30 minutes went out with a new rear Michelin slick tyre for a time attack, pero a rain shower ruined his plan of improving his lap times.

Xavier Simeon has also taken a big step forward in his adaptation process to the MotoGP class. The Belgian rider, following the advice of the team and his ‘coach’ Ruben Xaus, is steadely improving his riding style bettering his time from yesterday by almost 1.5s. His goal for the winter test is not just make a fast lap, but to learn as much as possible before the MotoGP World Championship starts in Qatar next March.

“Today was a day to try many different things in the set up of the bike to see what we like and what we don’t like. I’m happy because we have clear which way to follow and although we didn’t complete many laps, all of them have been effective and have allowed us to test what we wanted to test. For tomorrow, if tonight doesn’t rain, the intention is to start early and try to improve the lap time but, to be honest, I’m happy with the pace we have and specially because I’m doing fast times riding on my own. We have to concentrate to make the most of the last day and if everything goes well I would like to do a race simulation”.

“I’m very happy because today we did a big step compared to yesterday, and even during the afternoon with used tyres I was able to improve. Every time I go out on track I feel better with the bike, every time I understand the tyres better, I’m changing my position and little by little and I’m riding more in the style requiered by a MotoGP machine; lifting the bike as soon as possible and trying to brake as late as possible. At the end of the day we put a set of fresh soft tyres to try to improve the lap times and, honestly, I expected to improve a bit more. Especially seeing how the other riders with the new tyre were doing a big improvement. I expected to be able to do the same, but it is clear that I still have many things to learn”.

El equipo Reale Avintia Racing deja Malasia con muy buenas sensaciones después de tres días de entrenamientos en los que Tito Rabat y Xavi Simeon no han dejado de progresar.

El español ha conseguido esta mañana dar varias vueltas por debajo de los dos minutos y ha llegado a estar en el ‘top 6’. Por la tarde el plan era hacer una simulación de carrera completa, pero finalmente no la ha podido terminar tras caer en la novena de las veinte vueltas que tenía programadas. Pero a pesar de todo Rabat ha terminado muy satisfecho tras acabar el test con el duodécimo mejor tiempo a 0.717s de Jorge Lorenzo, quien hoy a volado bajo con su Ducati oficial en Sepang. Rabat ya está deseando volver a la acción dentro de dos semanas en Tailandia, donde tendrá lugar el segundo test oficial de tres días en el nuevo circuito de Buriram.

Su compañero en el Reale Avintia Racing, Xavier Simeon, ha seguido con su plan de trabajo que, una vez más se ha centrado en progresar sobre la moto y adaptar su estilo de pilotaje a las exigencias de la categoría de MotoGP. El belga ha completado 30 vueltas y ha conseguido rodar en 2’00, que era uno de los objetivos que el equipo se había marcado antes de llegar a Malasia. Además sus tiempos son similares a los otros pilotos que han subido de Moto2, entre ellos, el campeón y subcampeón de la pasada temporada. Por lo tanto también para Simeon el test de Sepang ha sido muy positivo.

“Ha sido un test muy positivo porque he conseguido ir rápido y con muy buen ritmo yo solo, cada vez me encuentro más a gusto con la moto y el equipo ha hecho un grandísimo trabajo durante los tres días. Por la tarde hemos hecho un simulacro de carrera, pero me he caído y no hemos podido terminarlo. Lo bueno es que sabemos por qué ha sido, ya nos pasó el primer día y en la misma curva con la goma media delante. Este neumático no avisa, pero como ya lo sabemos tenemos las cosas claras para el próximo test. Estoy muy contento de cómo han ido estos test, con el equipo, con la moto y con cómo me encuentro yo físicamente. Ahora toca entrenar a tope estos días para ponerse a punto para Tailandia”.

“La verdad es que estoy muy satisfecho porque hemos ido paso a paso y cada día he mejorado los tiempos y, lo que es más importante, he mejorado mis sensaciones con la moto. Por primera vez he podido hacer cambios en la puesta a punto, entender bien la moto y cómo se pilota. Eso también me ha permitido concentrarme en mi conducción y aquí que es una pista complicada hemos conseguido rodar en 2’00 lo que no está nada mal para ser mi primera vez en Sepang con una MotoGP. Me he encontrado muy bien con el equipo y me han dado muy buenas indicaciones.
