Reale Avintia Racing riders left Texas with mixed feelings after the third round of the MotoGP World Championship. Hector Barbera scored two points finishing the race in 14^th place, while Loris Baz got no reward after crashing out of lap 9 of the race, when he was battling with the British rider Scott Redding.

But there were also positive aspects on this weekend at the Circuit of the Americas, a track that does in general not favour the Ducati riders. Hector Barbera made some good steps in the learning process of a new riding style with his Desmosedici GP16. Although the final position in the race was fairly disappointing, he understood some things that should be useful in the next race at home in Spain.

Baz was unlucky, but until the crash, he was showing his potential, battling in the group that was fighting for the top 10.

Following three overseas races, the World Championship returns to Europe in two weeks time, and Jerez will be the home round for Reale Avintia Racing and Héctor Barberá.

“It was a strange race, because the result is not good, but I improved my riding style with this bike. It was the first weekend so far this season where we did not touch the set-up, and it was just me who had to change and adapt to the bike. In the last five laps I struggled with arm-pump, because this is a really demanding track and this year even more so due to its bumpy surface. But we have to focus on the positive aspects and this is that we finished the race close to the other Ducatis. I want to thank the team for being patient, and I promise to keep working at the maximum. The next race is Jerez, a circuit I like and where I’m sure that we can do better.”

“It was a shame, because although I was not riding at my best, I was able to stay in the group. Then I tried to catch Scott (Redding) and something failed in the gearbox going into a slow hairpin. The bike was like in neutral and I was forced to run off the track. I came back and maybe I pushed too much, because I crashed just two or three corners later, and today I could not save it… We knew that it was important to finish the race and score points, but today it was tough and the bike was not as easy to ride as in Argentina. But I’m sure that we will be back stronger in Jerez.”

Els pilots de l’equip Reale Avintia Racing sortiran demà al Gran Premi de les Amèriques des de la cinquena línia de la graella. Loris Baz ho farà des de la 14a posició i Héctor Barberá just per darrere del francès. Els dos pilots han lluitat a la Q1 per poder passar a la Q2, i tot i que Baz ha estat molt a prop, ha perdut totes les seves opcions en l’última corba on ha estat a punt de caure. Però el brau pilot de Reale Avintia Racing ha aconseguit salvar la caiguda al més pur estil del rodeo americà, i ha acabat sent el protagonista en la primera sessió classificatòria. Demà té bon ritme i, tot i que no serà fàcil, espera poder lluitar pel Top 10.

Héctor Barberá ha acabat molt a prop, però el pilot espanyol segueix treballant per adaptar el seu estil a la Desmosedici GP16. Tot i que la posició en graella no és molt bona, Barberá ha acabat el dia content amb la seva progressió i demà espera seguir millorant la seva forma de pilotar la Ducati a les 21 voltes de la cursa.

“Ha estat un dia complicat, sobretot al matí. Al FP4 hem trobat alguna cosa positiva i no ha anat malament. En els cronometrats el feeling era bo, he intentat buscar una roda per fer una volta, però no ha pogut ser. Però tot i anar sol la volta no ha estat malament. Després estava millorant amb el segon pneumàtic, però potser he empès massa. Sabia que ja anava just quan he frenat, i potser m’hauria d’haver anat llarg per fer la corba, però volia entrar a la Q2 … Bé, no ho he aconseguit, però he fet una bona salvada i almenys es veuran els patrocinadors a tot el món. ”

“Estic content però només a mitges. Estem en fase d’adaptació, encara que soni estrany que ho digui un pilot que porta 16 anys al Mundial. Però he de començar de zero i canviar el meu estil de pilotatge. Amb el meu estil aquesta moto no va i sabem que he de canviar-lo. Hem millorat bastant respecte a la cursa anterior, no el que ens hagués agradat, però crec que estem en el camí correcte, encara que sabem que no és fàcil perquè cal canviar tots els hàbits de conducció. El major problema és quan vull anar ràpid, perquè és quan no penses i instintivament surt el meu estil i això és el que més em penalitza. He de agafar-me la carrera amb calma, com si fos un entrenament i el meu objectiu és millorar el meu estil, sense importar la posició final. “

Reale Avintia Racing riders will start tomorrow’s Grand Prix of the Americas from the fifth row of the grid. Loris Baz will start the race from 14^th place, Hector Barbera will line up next to the Frenchman in 15^th position. Both riders fought hard in Q1 to get into Q2 and although Baz was quite close to make it happen, he lost all his chances in the last corner when he almost crashed. But the brave Reale Avintia Racing rider saved the crash in Texas rodeo style, and definitely played a main starring role in today’s first qualifying session. The race will be tough, but nevertheless he will try to fight for a top 10 result tomorrow.

Hector Barbera finished very close to his teammate. The Spaniard still tries to adapt his riding style to the desmands of the Ducati Desmosedici GP16. Although 15^th is not the place he wanted to be at, Barbera was happy at the end of the day with his progression. Tomorrow, he expects to keep improving his riding style with his Ducati during the 21-lap race.

“It was a difficult day and more so in the morning. In FP4 we found something positive that helped us to improve and during qualifying the feeling was really good. I tried to hook up to somebody else to make a fast lap, but there was nobody around. Nevertheless, I had a good pace riding by myself and the lap was not so bad. In my second attack I pushed to the maximum and in the last corner maybe too much… I realized when I was braking that it was going to be difficult to make the turn without going wide, but I really wanted to get in Q2… After all I was not able to do it, but I managed to safe the crash, and at least my sponsors will be shown all around the world.”

“I’m happy, but not over the moon. We are in a phase of adaption, which sounds strange from a rider that is in his 16^th season in the World Championship. But I have to start from zero and change my riding style. With my style this bike does not work, and we know that it’s me who has to change. We have improved a lot compared to the last race, not as much as I would like to, but I think that we are going the right direction, even if we know that it is not going to be easy, because I have to change all my riding habits. The main problem is that when you want to go fast, you don’t actively think about your riding. You ride by instinct and in this moment, my old style comes back, which is the problem. I have to look at the race as another practice session and my target tomorrow will be to improve my riding style, without thinking about the result.”

Los pilotos del equipo Reale Avintia Racing saldrán mañana en el Gran Premio de las Américas desde la quinta línea de la parrilla. Loris Baz lo hará desde la 14ª posición y Héctor Barberá justo por detrás del francés. Los dos pilotos han luchado en la Q1 para poder pasar a la Q2, y aunque Baz ha estado muy cerca, ha perdido todas sus opciones en la última curva donde ha estado a punto de caer. Pero el bravo piloto de Reale Avintia Racing ha conseguido salvar la caída al más puro estilo del rodeo americano, y ha terminado siendo el protagonista en la primera sesión clasificatoria. Mañana tiene buen ritmo y, aunque no será fácil, espera poder luchar por el Top 10.

Héctor Barberá ha terminado muy cerca, pero el piloto español sigue trabajando para adaptar su estilo a la Desmosedici GP16. Aunque la posición en parrilla no es muy buena, Barberá ha terminado el día contento con su progresión y mañana espera seguir mejorando su forma de pilotar la Ducati en las 21 vueltas de la carrera.

“Ha sido un día complicado, sobre todo por la mañana. En el FP4 hemos encontrado algo positivo y no ha ido mal. En los cronometrados el feeling era bueno, he intentado buscar una rueda para hacer una vuelta, pero no ha podido ser. Pero a pesar de ir solo la vuelta no ha estado mal. Después estaba mejorando con el segundo neumático, pero quizás he empujado demasiado. Sabía que ya iba justo cuando he frenado, y quizás debía haberme ido largo para hacer la curva, pero quería entrar en la Q2… Bueno, no lo he logrado, pero he hecho una buena salvada y al menos se van a ver los patrocinadores en todo el mundo.”

“Estoy contento pero solo a medias. Estamos en fase de adaptación, aunque suene raro que lo diga un piloto que lleva 16 años en el Mundial. Pero tengo que empezar de cero y cambiar mi estilo de pilotaje. Con mi estilo esta moto no va y sabemos que debo cambiarlo. Hemos mejorado bastante con respecto a la carrera anterior, no lo que nos hubiese gustado, pero creo que estamos en el camino correcto, aunque sabemos que no es fácil porque hay que cambiar todos los hábitos de conducción. El mayor problema es cuando quiero ir rápido, porque es cuando no piensas e instintivamente sale mi estilo y esto es lo que más me penaliza. Tengo que tomarme la carrera con calma, como si fuera un entrenamiento y mi objetivo es mejorar mi estilo, sin importarme la posición final.”

Reale Avintia Racing are pleased to announce the renewal of their contract with Ducati Corse to race the bikes from Borgo Panigale in the 2018 MotoGP World Championship. The contract has been signed this weekend at the Circuit of the Americas and the team will have two sets of Ducati Desmosedici GP 2017 bikes next season.

The team started to work with the Italian manufacturer in the last races of 2014 and since then, the team has been getting stronger every season and has established a close relationship with the factory. This early renewal of the contract is another step forward with Ducati and a clear signal of mutual confidence.

“I’m extremely happy to announce that we will be racing with Ducati next season. We are like a family and we are fully integrated in their MotoGP project. We had some more options for next season, but the confidence showed by Paolo Ciabatti and Gigi Dall’Igna over these years made the decision easy to sign so early in the season. We feel an incredible support from the factory and the guaranty to have this year’s factory bikes for next season is really important for the team. Now it will be easy to find more sponsorship and to keep growing.”

It is a team that started to work with us at the end of 2014 and since then they have never stopped growing together with Ducati. L’equip Reale Avintia Racing té el plaer d’anunciar la renovació del seu contracte amb Ducati Corse per seguir competint amb les motos de Borgo Panigale en el Campionat del Món de MotoGP el 2018. L’acord s’ha signat aquest cap de setmana al Circuit de les Amèriques, i l’equip disposarà de dos Ducati Desmosedici GP 2017 la propera temporada.

Després de començar la relació amb la marca italiana a la fi de 2014, l’equip ha anat creixent cada any i estrenyent els seus llaços amb la fàbrica. La primerenca renovació del contracte és un pas més en aquest sentit i una mostra de la confiança mútua d’ambdues parts.

“Estic súper content per haver renovat amb Ducati, som com una família i ens sentim molt integrats en el seu projecte a MotoGP. Teníem diverses opcions per a la temporada que ve, però la confiança i l’ajuda que sempre ens han demostrat Paolo Ciabatti i Gigi Dall’Igna ens ha fet prendre la decisió de renovar el més aviat possible. Ens sentim molt acompanyats per la fàbrica i la garantia de comptar amb les motos de fàbrica d’aquest any per a la temporada que és molt important per a nosaltres. El equipo Reale Avintia Racing tiene el placer de anunciar la renovación de su contrato con Ducati Corse para seguir compitiendo con las motos de Borgo Panigale en el Campeonato del Mundo de MotoGP en 2018. The opening day at the spectacular Circuit of the Americas has been quite positive for the Reale Avintia Racing riders. Although these good feelings didn’t reflect in the timesheets, both Hector Barbera and Loris Baz were satisfied after the first two free practice sessions of the weekend.

Barbera came to Texas with one goal, to adapt his riding style to his Ducati Desmosedici GP16 requirements. In the final minutes of FP2 he was fifth, but eventually he finished the day 15^th overall. He hopes to improve even more tomorrow and will try to fight for a place in Q2.

Loris Baz kept some tyres for tomorrow and spent the day working on his set-up for the demanding Texan track. He crashed out at the end of the day, but he knows the reason for his crash and expects to improve and get the best possible grid position in qualifying tomorrow.

“Today has been a positive day. As I said before coming here, I still need to adapt my riding style to this bike, but today I felt better riding my bike and my riding style is becoming more natural. We have to keep working in this way because I want to get the maximum out of the bike. I want to say a big thank you to my team, they have been patient and they managed to provide the necessary calm to reach our goal. We are still far from where we want to be, but I’m sure that we will get there sooner or later. Their support is really important and without it, everything would be more difficult.”

“The first day was more complicated that Argentina, but we are not so bad as it seems in the standings. This morning I didn’t want to use the soft tyre at the end of the session and I did the 45 minutes with the same set of tyres, which gave us valuable information for the race. In the afternoon I improved my pace riding on my own and the feeling was good. At the end we mounted a new soft rear tyre, but didn’t change the front as I wanted to keep one set for tomorrow. I knew that this combination would push the front. Braking into turn one I made a small mistake and I crashed. I hope to improve tomorrow in FP3 to try to get into Q2.”

El primer dia d’entrenaments al Circuit of the Americas ha estat bastant positiva per als pilots de l’equip Reale Avintia Racing. Encara que la classificació no ho reflectir que, les sensacions de Héctor Barberá i Loris Baz en les dues primeres lliures sessions de cap setmana han estat força

Barberà ha arribat a Texas amb l’objectiu de adaptar el seu estil de conducció a les demandes de la Ducati Desmosedici GP16 i lentament està aconseguint-lo. En la FP2 ha arribat a ser cinquè en la classificació a pocs minuts de la final i demà s’espera per donar un altre pas endavant per intentar lluitar entrar en Q2.

Loris Baz ha reservat pneumàtics per demà i ha passat gairebé tot el dia treballant en la millora de l’aplicació de la Ducati al circuit exigent a Texas. Tot i que ha acabat el dia amb una caiguda, té clar el perquè i demà espera poder millorar per aconseguir la millor posició possible en els cronometrats.

“Ha estat un dia força positiu. Com vaig dir abans d’arribar aquí, encara m’hi he d’adaptar millor a la moto, però avui m’he trobat una miqueta millor sobre de la moto i l’estil de pilotatge em va sortint més natural. Així és com hem de treballar i jo he d’aconseguir canviar per treure el màxim de la moto. Vull aprofitar per donar les gràcies a l’equip per la seva paciència i per donar-me la tranquil·litat necessària per aconseguir el nostre objectiu, perquè tot i que encara no estem on hem, on deuriem estar, segur que arribarem més tard o més d’hora. Però sense el seu suport seria tot més complicat. ”

“El primer dia ha estat una mica més complicat que l’Argentina, però no estem tan malament com sembla en la classificació. Aquest matí no he volgut muntar pneumàtics nous al final i crec que fer tota la sessió amb els mateixos pneumàtics ens ha donat una valuosa informació per a la carrera. A la tarda he millorat bastant i rodant només el feeling ha estat bo. al final he muntat una goma nova darrera per així guardar-me un set bo per demà, però encara que sabia que empenyeria bastant, en arribar a la corba numero 1, he comès un petit errada i he caigut. Espero millorar en el FP3 per intentar passar a la Q2”.

El primer día de entrenamientos libres en el Circuito de las Américas ha sido bastante positivo para los pilotos del equipo Reale Avintia Racing. Aunque la clasificación no lo refleje, las sensaciones de Héctor Barberá y Loris Baz en las dos primeras sesiones libres del fin de semana han sido bastante buenas.

Barberá ha llegado a Texas con el objetivo de adaptar su estilo de pilotaje a las exigencias de la Ducati Desmosedici GP16 y poco a poco lo está consiguiendo. En el FP2 ha llegado a estar quinto en la clasificación a pocos minutos del final, y mañana espera dar otro paso adelante para intentar luchar por entrar en la Q2.

Loris Baz ha reservado neumáticos para mañana y ha pasado casi toda la jornada trabajando en mejorar la puesta a punto de su Ducati en el exigente circuito tejano. Aunque ha terminado el día con una caída, tiene claro el por qué y mañana espera poder mejorar para conseguir el mejor puesto posible en los cronometrados.

“Ha sido un día bastante positivo. Como dije antes de llegar aquí, todavía tengo que adaptarme mejor a la moto, pero hoy me he encontrado un poquito mejor encima de la moto y el estilo de pilotaje me va saliendo más natural. Así es como tenemos que trabajar y yo tengo que conseguir cambiar para sacar el máximo de la moto. Quiero aprovechar para dar las gracias al equipo por su paciencia y por darme la tranquilidad necesaria para lograr nuestro objetivo, porque aunque todavía no estamos donde debemos, seguro que llegaremos más tarde o más temprano. Pero sin su apoyo sería todo más complicado.”

“El primer día ha sido un poco más complicado que Argentina, pero no estamos tan mal como parece en la clasificación. Esta mañana no he querido montar neumáticos nuevos al final y creo que hacer toda la sesión con los mismos neumáticos nos ha dado una valiosa información para la carrera. Por la tarde he mejorado bastante y rodando solo el feeling ha sido bueno. Al final he montado una goma nueva detrás para así guardarme un set bueno para mañana, pero aunque sabía que empujaría bastante, al llegar a la curva uno he cometido un pequeño error y me he caído. Espero mejorar en el FP3 para intentar pasar a la Q2.”
