The Avintia Esponsorama Moto3 riders have successfully completed the qualifying for the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya.

Niccolò Antonelli took a superb 3rd position. The Italian put in a great last lap and thanks to a time of 1:47.958, he will start tomorrow’s race on the front row.

Elia Bartolini, who was making his debut at the Circuit de Barcelona, will be 28th on the grid. The rider from Cesena has managed to set a best lap of 1:50.143.

Tomorrow the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya race will start at 11:20am.

“I am happy because tomorrow we will start from the front row. We have had a good weekend so far, we have always worked well, so we deserved this front row. I think we are quite prepared for tomorrow, so now we just have to think about having a good race.”

“I’m quite satisfied with the qualifying, although there were some factors that affected my fast lap. We are improving lap by lap and I feel good with the team, with the bike, I like the track and the riders are strong, but step by step we must be able to go as fast as them. Los pilotos de Avintia Esponsorama Moto3 han completado con éxito la clasificación del Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya.

Niccolò Antonelli ha conseguido una magnífica 3ª posición. El italiano ha cuadrado una gran última vuelta y gracias a un tiempo de 1:47.958, arrancará la carrera de mañana en primera línea.

Elia Bartolini, que se estrenaba en el Circuit de Barcelona, ha conseguido la 28ª posición de la parrilla. El piloto de Cesena ha logrado una mejor vuelta de 1:50.143.

Mañana a las 11:20 se disputará la carrera del Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya.

“Estoy feliz porque mañana saldremos de la primera fila. Hemos tenido un buen fin de semana hasta ahora, siempre hemos trabajado bien, así que nos merecíamos esta primera fila. Creo que estamos bastante preparados para mañana, así que ahora solo tenemos que pensar en hacer una buena carrera.”

“Estoy bastante satisfecho con la clasificación, aunque ha habido algunos factores que han perjudicado mi vuelta rápida. Vamos mejorando vuelta a vuelta y me siento bien con el equipo, con la moto, me gusta la pista y los pilotos son muy fuertes, pero poco a poco tenemos que ser capaces de ir tan rápido como ellos. Mañana podemos divertirnos y hacer una buena carrera.”

Enea Bastianini and Luca Marini completed a difficult qualifying at the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya.

Both riders had to compete in Q1 and, unfortunately, neither of them was able to make it through the cut. Bastianini will start the race 17th after a best time of 1:39.590. Marini, with a time of 1:39.942, has finished in 19th position.

Tomorrow at 13:00 the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya race will take place where Bastianini and Marini will fight from the beginning to cross the finish line with a good result.

“It was a difficult day. We started well this morning, but then I had a crash that made me lose a bit of confidence. In the afternoon I was able to get it back step by step, but my time wasn’t enough to finish in the top two. Anyway, I’m quite satisfied with the work we’ve done and tomorrow we have to try to take another step forward, to continue to get the confidence we’ve lost and it will be important to make a good start.”

“With the grid position aside, I have to say that I am happy to have done two races in two consecutive weekends. This has helped me to push the bike to the limit, to be able to work well with the tires and to have fun on the track. Today’s times are not the best, but it’s what I can do at the moment. I rode well, I didn’t make any mistakes, but I had no grip on the rear, especially on the right side, something that never happened to me in the previous sessions. Overall, I can say that I am satisfied with the level of riding we are achieving and with the work we are doing with the whole team.”

Enea Bastianini y Luca Marini han completado una complicada clasificación en el Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya.

Ambos pilotos han tenido que disputar la Q1 y, desafortunadamente, ninguno de los dos ha podido superar el corte. Bastianini arrancará la carrera 17º tras conseguir un mejor registro de 1:39.590. Marini, con un tiempo de 1:39.942, se ha tenido que conformar con la 19ª posición.

Mañana a las 13:00 se disputará la carrera del Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya donde tanto Bastianini como Marini, lucharán desde el principio para cruzar la línea de meta con un buen resultado.

“Ha sido un día un poco complicado. Hemos empezado bien esta mañana, pero luego he tenido una caída que me ha hecho perder un poco de confianza. Por la tarde poco a poco la he podido recuperar, pero mi tiempo no ha sido suficiente para terminar entre los dos primeros. De todas formas, estoy bastante satisfecho con el trabajo que hemos hecho y mañana debemos intentar dar un paso más, seguir ganando la confianza perdida y será importante hacer una buena salida.”

“Realmente, dejando a un lado la posición de salida en la parrilla, tengo que decir que estoy contento de haber hecho dos carreras en dos fines de semana consecutivos. Esto me ha ayudado a llevar la moto al límite, a poder trabajar bien con los neumáticos y me he divertido en la pista. Los tiempos de hoy no son los mejores, pero es lo que puedo hacer en este momento. He pilotado bien, no he cometido ningún error, pero no tenía agarre en la parte trasera, sobre todo en el lado derecho, algo que nunca me había pasado en las sesiones anteriores. En general, puedo decir que estoy satisfecho con el nivel de pilotaje que estamos alcanzando y con el trabajo que estamos realizando con todo el equipo.”

The Avintia Esponsorama Racing riders have finished the first day of the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya after completing a great job.

Xavi Cardelús was 9th in the first free practice. In the second free practice, the Andorran rider managed to lower his morning time by almost half a second. His best lap time was 1:51.796, placing him 10th in the combined session.

André Pires was able to accumulate his first kilometers at the Circuit de Barcelona. The Portuguese showed a remarkable improvement from the first free practice to the second one, being 7 tenths of a second quicker. Finally, Pires was 18th in the combined practice, stopping the clock in 1:55.543.

Tomorrow will be the third free practice before the e-Pole of the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya.

“It wasn’t a bad start. The first session went quite well. It’s the first time with the MotoE here and we knew it wasn’t going to be perfect at the beginning, but from the first session I felt really good. In the second session we tried to improve and go in the right direction, but we still have some margin. We’ll see tomorrow if we can find what we’re missing.”

“I’m adapting to the bike. I am liking the circuit, I have improved in the second practice compared to the first one. I still have a lot of things to improve, but that’s what I’m trying to do, looking for a good feeling with the bike and a good set-up. At the end of the day we only do a few laps and I wanted to find a good feeling and try to go as fast as possible. Thank you very much to the team, they are doing a great job.”

Los pilotos del Avintia Esponsorama Racing han finalizado el primer día del Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya tras completar un gran trabajo.

Xavi Cardelús ha sido 9º en los primeros entrenamientos libres. De cara al segundo, el piloto andorrano ha conseguido rebajar su tiempo matinal en prácticamente medio segundo. Su mejor registro ha sido de 1:51.796, colocándole en 10ª posición de la combinada.

André Pires ha podido acumular sus primeros kilómetros en el Circuit de Barcelona. El portugués ha mostrado una mejoría notable del primer entrenamiento libre al segundo, siendo 7 décimas más rápido. Finalmente, Pires ha sido 18º en la combinada, parando el cronómetro en 1:55.543.

Mañana se disputará el tercer entrenamiento y posteriormente la e-Pole del Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya.

“No ha sido un mal inicio. La primera sesión ha ido bastante bien. Es la primera vez con la MotoE aquí y sabíamos que no iba a ir perfecto al principio, pero desde la primera sesión me he sentido muy bien. En la segunda sesión hemos intentado mejorar e ir en el buen camino, pero aún tenemos margen. Veremos mañana si podemos encontrar lo que nos falta.”

André Pires


“Estoy adaptándome a la moto. Me está gustando el circuito, he mejorado en el segundo entreno respecto al primero. Aún tengo muchas cosas en las que mejorar, pero es lo que estoy intentando, buscando un buen ‘feeling’ con la moto y una buena configuración. Al final en un entreno damos pocas vueltas y he querido encontrar buenas sensaciones e intentar ir lo más rápido posible. Muchas gracias al equipo, están haciendo un gran trabajo.”

Enea Bastianini and Luca Marini started the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya finishing 8th and 13th respectively in the combined practice times.

During the first free practice, Bastianini and Marini were able to work on the set-up of the bike to get a good balance that is so important and necessary at this track.

For the second free practice, both riders were able to set their best laps of the day. Bastianini stopped the clock at 1:39.977, a time that puts him in Q2 positions. Marini, who suffered a minor crash in the early stages of the session, set a time of 1:40.094.

Tomorrow the action will return to the Catalan track for the third and fourth free practice sessions before qualifying for the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya.

“I am quite happy with the first day. We started off on the right foot in FP1 and I immediately found a good feeling. This afternoon we were able to work a little bit with the tires, trying to understand the tire compound and the tire life. I felt comfortable with both and it won’t be easy to decide for the race. On my first fast lap I went off the track and on my second one I made some mistakes. Nevertheless, I’m eighth, but with a margin, so I think we can make a step forward tomorrow.”

Luca Marini


“This track is great fun to ride a MotoGP bike, although today’s conditions were really difficult in terms of grip. We struggled a bit, but we were also able to try some new solutions in terms of set-up and overall, I’m happy with the day. We need to make a step forward on the fast laps, we have room for improvement, and we will use FP3 to try something else. There are some places on the track where I can’t do what I want to do.”

Durante el primer entrenamiento libre, tanto Bastianini como Marini han podido trabajar en la puesta a punto de la moto para así conseguir un buen balance que tan necesario e importante es en este trazado.

De cara al segundo entrenamiento libre, ambos pilotos han podido cerrar sus mejores vueltas del día. Bastianini ha parado el cronómetro en 1:39.977, tiempo el cual le coloca en posiciones de Q2. Marini, que ha sufrido una leve caída sin consecuencias en los primeros compases del entreno, ha marcado un registro de 1:40.094.

Mañana la acción volverá al trazado catalán para disputar los terceros y los cuartos entrenamientos libres previos a la clasificación del Gran Premio Monster Energy de Catalunya.

“Estoy bastante contento con el primer día. Hemos empezado con el pie derecho en el FP1 y de inmediato he encontrado una buena sensación. Esta tarde hemos podido trabajar un poco con los neumáticos tratando de entender la duración y el compuesto. Me he encontrado cómodo con ambos y no va a ser fácil decidirme para la carrera. En mi primero intento de vuelta rápida me he salido de la pista y en el segundo he cometido algunos errores. Pese a ello soy octavo, aunque con margen, así que creo que mañana podemos dar un paso adelante.”

“Esta pista es muy divertida para pilotar una MotoGP, aunque las condiciones de hoy han sido realmente difíciles en términos de agarre. Hemos sufrido un poco, pero también hemos podido probar algunas soluciones nuevas en términos de configuración y en general estoy satisfecho con el día. Necesitamos dar un paso adelante en las vueltas rápidas, tenemos margen de mejora y usaremos el FP3 para intentar algo más. Hay algunos lugares en la pista donde no puedo hacer lo que quiero.”

The Avintia Esponsorama Moto3 riders completed the first day of the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya.

Niccolò Antonelli finished 11th in the combined times and set his best time of the day in the second free practice. A time of 1:48.646 put him in Q2 positions with the third free practice still to come.

Elia Bartolini closed a good day and showed a great progression. The Italian rider was able to do his first laps on the Catalan track, a completely new circuit for him. His best lap time was 1:50.664.

Tomorrow at 9:00 the third free practice will take place before qualifying for the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya, which will be held at 12:35.

Niccolò Antonelli ha finalizado 11º en la clasificación combinada y ha conseguido su mejor registro de la jornada en el segundo entrenamiento libre. Un tiempo de 1:48.646 le coloca en posiciones de Q2 temporalmente a falta del tercer entrenamiento libre.

Elia Bartolini ha cerrado un buen día y mostrando una gran progresión. El piloto italiano ha podido sumar sus primeras vueltas en el trazado catalán, un circuito completamente nuevo para él. Su mejor registro ha sido de 1:50.664.

Mañana a las 9:00 se disputará el tercer entrenamiento libre previo a la clasificación del Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya, que tendrá lugar a las 12:35.

Es una pista muy bonita, rápidamente me he sentido bien y del primer entrenamiento al segundo he podido dar un gran paso adelante. Mañana intentaré de seguir mejorando, pero estoy muy contento y las cosas están yendo bien.”
