Stefano Nepa concluded Aragon GP out of Top20 after suffering more than expected in the Motorland circuit. The Italian rider, who got points in Misano, couldn’t go any further than 23rd after battling for the 17th.

Next race will be held in Buriram (Thailand) from October the 4th to 6th where the 15th round of the season will be done.


“It has not been a very good weekend because I haven’t been able to go fast with the bike, I didn’t get good feelings and unfortunately I couldn’t do more than 23rd. Even I tried all race long, from the second part of the race I did not have the rhythm to be with the group and that is something that we know can improve. In Thailand we’ll try other things to find good feelings with the motorbike in order to improve. Thanks to the team, the sponsors and my family. See you in Thailand.”

Stefano Nepa ha concluido la carrera del GP de Aragón fuera de los 20 primeros clasificados después de sufrir más de lo esperado en el circuito de Motorland. El piloto italiano, que venía de puntuar en Misano, solo ha podido ser 23º después de haber estado luchando con el grupo de la 17ª posición.

La siguiente carrera se celebrará en el circuito de Buriram (Tailandia) del 4 a 6 de octubre donde se celebrará la 15ª prueba del mundial de Moto3.

“Ha sido un fin de semana muy difícil porque no he conseguido ir rápido con la moto, no he tenido buenas sensaciones y por desgracia no he podido quedar más allá de la 23ª posición. A pesar de que lo he probado durante toda la carrera, a partir de la segunda mitad no tenía el ritmo para estar con el grupo y eso es algo en lo que sabeos que debemos mejorar. En Tailandia probaremos otras cosas para encontrar más sensaciones con la moto que permitan empujar más. Muchas gracias al equipo, a los sponsors y a mi familia. Nos vemos en Tailandia.”

The first day of the Aragon GP is already done and dusted after the FP1 and FP2 earlier today. The Reale Avintia Arizona 77’s Italian rider Stefano Nepa concluded day 1 28th and worked on the set up of his KTM during both sessions in order to get ready for tomorrow’s QP session that is expected to be on wet conditions.

“It was a difficult day, we didn’t manage to make the fast lap in the last run but we know where to improve. It’s a shame that tomorrow I may rain but we are focused we’ll try to get into Q2”.

El primer día del GP de Aragón es historia tras la disputa del FP1 y FP2 hoy. El piloto italiano del Reale Avintia Arizona 77, Stefano Nepa, conluye el primer día 28º tras trabajar en la puesta a punto de su KTM en ambas sesiones con el objetivo de llegar preparado para el entrenamiento clasificatorio de mañana que, por otro lado, se espera que sea sobre mojado.

“Ha sido un día coplicado, no hemos conseguido hacer la vuelta rápida en la última salida pero sabemos donde podemos mejorar. Es una pena que mañana vaya a llover pero estamos centrados e intentaremos entrar en la Q2”.

When did you start riding motorbikes?
I started riding motorbike when I was 3 years old with a motocross minimoto but I only rode around my house and, until several years later, I didn’t ride in racetracks. When I was 8, I had my first minibike, which is quite late in comparison with other riders but then I immediately started racing in the Italian championship. From then on, I keep the same strategy as most of the riders: minimoto, minigp, pre moto3 and moto3. In 2016 I did my debut with the moto3 in the CIV and also in the CEV. In 2018 I did my first race ever in the world championship when I did a wildcar in Mugello and I keep a very good memory from that moment because doing your first race in your home circuit is very especial.

Where does your passion for motorbikes come from?
As a child I watched the races on TV but my dad gave my this passion and he made me love racing.

This has been your first year in the Reale Avintia Arizona 77.
Yes, I arrived in the team for racing in the CEV from the beginning of the season. Later, I had the chance to step into the world championship with them, which was something completely unexpected but I must say I’m very pleased with that and I have to thank the team for that, you don’t get this chance everyday.

How do you feel with the team?
I felt really comfortable with the team quickly, it’s kind of a family and this is so important to make everything work.

What is your strong point?
I like fast tracks so I’d say that high speed corners are the ones that I am the best at.

And what about your weak point?
I’m not super good at braking as I don’t like hard braking turns.

Which is your favourite circuit?
My favourite circuit is Jerez

Left or right hand corners?
I don’t really have a favourite, I do not feel better on right hand corners rather than in left ones, or even in the other way around.

How do you train for the races?
When I am at home I go the gym 3 or 4 days per week, then I do a couple of sessions of motocross or flat track and I also do running and cycling, which a sport I love.

What do you do in your free time?
When I’m free I like spending time with family and go out with friends in order to forget about motorbikes.

What’s the balance of your season so far?
I am happy with, starting when the season has already begun is not easy for me or for the team. We are improving in every race, in Misano l had good pace and we got our first points, which is really positive.

What’s the goal until the end of the season?
The main goal is to keep improving and be in Top15 as much as possible because when you do a race with the front group you learn a lot and you see where your weak and strong points are.

¿Cuándo comenzaste a ir en moto?
Comencé a ir en moto a los 3 años con una mini moto de cross pero solo rodaba dentro de mi casa y hasta que no pasaron varios años no piloté en circuitos. Con 8 años tuve la primera minimoto, lo cual es bastante tarde en comparación con otros pilotos pero inmediatamente después comencé a competir en el Campeonato Italiano de minimotos. A partir de ahí seguí la misma dinámica que la mayoría de pilotos: minimoto, mini gp, pre moto3 y moto3. En el 2016 hice mi debut con la moto3 en el CIV y también en el CEV. En 2018 hice mi primera carrera en el Mundial de moto3 como invitado en Mugello y guardo un muy buen recuerdo de aquel momento porque fue debutar en el mundial en el Gran Premio de casa es muy especial.

¿De dónde te viene la pasión por las motos?
De pequeño siempre veía las carreras en la televisión pero fue mi padre quien me transmitió la pasión y quien hizo que me gustasen las carreras.

Este ha sido tu primer año con el Reale Avintia Arizona 77.
Sí, llegué al equipo originalmente para correr en el CEV desde principio de año. Después surgió la oportunidad de saltar al mundial con ellos, lo que fue algo completamente inesperado pero tengo que estarles agradecidos porque es una oportunidad que no se te presenta todos los días.

¿Cómo te sientes en este equipo?
Rápidamente me sentí bien con el equipo, hay un ambiente familiar y eso es muy importante para que todo funcione.

¿Cuál dirías que es tu punto fuerte?
Me gustan las pistas rápidas así que diría que las curvas de gran velocidad son las que mejor se me dan.

¿Y tu punto débil?
No soy un gran frenador, no me gustan las frenadas fuertes.

¿Cuál es tu circuito favorito?
El que más me gusta es Jerez.

¿Curvas a derechas o izquierdas?
La verdad es que no tengo una preferencia, no hay una que me vaya mejor y otra peor.

¿Cómo te entrenas para las carreras?
La semana que estoy en casa voy al gimnasio 3 o 4 veces, hago un par de sesiones de motocross o flat track y también salgo a correr y a hacer bici, es un deporte que me gusta mucho.

¿Qué haces en tu tiempo libre?
Me gusta desconectar, estar con la familia y salir con los amigos.

¿Qué valoración haces de la temporada?
Estoy contento porque incorporarme a mitad de temporada no es fácil ni para mi ni para el equipo. Al final en cada carrera estamos mejorando, en Misano tuve un buen ritmo y conseguimos los primeros puntos, lo cual es positivo.

¿Objetivo hasta Valencia?
El objetivo es continuar mejorando y llegar al Top15 de manera regular porque cuando haces una carrera con el grupo de delante aprendes mucho y te das cuenta de dónde estás haciendo las cosas bien y donde las haces mal.

 

The Italian rider arrives in the Motorland Aragón, where the 14th race of the season of the Moto3 world championship will be held, feeling really good after getting his first points in the world championship in the Misano Circuit less than a week ago when he finished 11th.

“We arrive from a relly positive weekend and there is still a lot of work to do, but we made a step in race pace. We must focus more in the Free Practices and ride the bike to the limit from the FP1 so we arrive ready to QP. I really like Motorland Aragon,  and I believe that it will be important the last sector because of its long straight. As always, my team and myself will give 100% in order to get inside the Top15.”

El piloto italiano llega al circuito de Motorland Aragón -donde se celebrará la 14ª prueba del Campeonato del Mundo de Moto3- con la moral alta tras conseguir sus primeros puntos mundialistas en el circuito de Misano hace menos de una semana cuando fue 11º.

Este fin de semana se enfrenta al desafío que supone el complejo trazado aragonés donde los puntos volverán a ser el objetivo. Esta será la última carrera antes de que paddock haga las maletas para las carreras de la gira asiática para después volver a Europa y acabar la temporada en Valencia.

“Llegamos de un fin de semana positivo y aún hay que trabajar mucho, pero hemos hecho un paso importante en carrera. Hay que concentrarse más en los entrenamientos libres y llevar la moto al límite desde el FP1 así conseguiremos llegar preparados a la QP. El circuito de Aragón me gusta mucho, será importante el último sector por la larga recta que tiene. Como siempre, el equipo y yo daremos el 100% para llegar al Top15”

The Reale Avintia Arizona 77 Italian rider did his best race weekend ever in the Moto3 world championship as he finished 11th in his home race, best scenario he could ask for. Nepa crossed the finish line on 10th position but he got a penalty by exceeding track limits on last lap so race direction decided to drop him one position. However, the Italian managed to finished inside the Top15 for the very first time in his carreer and leaves Misano with 5 points.

It was not an easy race for Nepa who started from 20th and in the first lap he had to avoid a rider who crashed in turn 8 in front of him, so he was forced to run wide, losing many seconds there. However, he managed to recover positions as he took advantage of the crashes ahead of him due to the lack of grip on track and he made it to a small group where he would fight for 11th

The Reale Avintia Arizona 77 is already focused on the next race that will be held at Motorland Aragon in 7 days time.

“It has been a hard weekend since the beginning because I didn’t find good feelings with the bike to push to my 100%. In qualifying we did not do it badly but in the race I had a contact with two other riders and I was last after the first lap but I have tried my best to reach the second group and we have finally achieved our goal of scoring points. Shame about the penalty for exceeding the limits on the last lap that made me lose a position, but I am happy with the performance. I want to thank the team and my family, see you in Aragon.”

El piloto italiano del Reale Avintia Arizona 77 cierra su mejor fin de semana en el mundial con una 11ª posición en su carrera de casa, un escenario inmejorable. A pesar de cruzar meta 10º, Nepa fue sancionado por exceder los límites de la pista en la última vuelta y perdió una posición. Con todo, consiguió finalizar dentro del Top 15 por primera vez en su carrera deportiva dentro del campeonato del mundo de Moto3 y se marcha del Misano con sus primeros 5 puntos.

No fue una carrera fácil para Nepa que salía 20º y ya en la primera vuelta tuvo que evitar a un piloto que cayó en la curva 8 ante él por lo que se vio obligado a tener que salir por la escapatoria, perdiendo consecuentemente mucho tiempo. Sin embargo, pudo ir remontando posiciones, en parte favorecido en parte por las caídas que se iban sucediendo por delante debido al reducido agarre que ofrecía la pista de Misano, hasta llegar a un pequeño grupo con el que ha peleó por la undécima posición.

El Reale Avintia Arizona 77 piensa ya en la próxima carrera que tendrá lugar en Motorland Aragón en tan solo siete días.

“Ha sido un fin de semana complicado desde el inicio porque no conseguí encontrar buenas sensaciones con la moto para empujar al 100%. En la clasificación no lo hicimos mal pero en carrera tuve un contacto con otro dos pilotos y pasé último en la primera vuelta pero di el máximo hasta llegar al segundo grupo y por fin conseguimos nuestro objetivo de conseguir puntos. Lástima de la penalización por exceder los límites en la última vuelta que me hizo perder una posición, pero estoy contento con el rendimiento. Quiero dar las gracias al equipo y a mi familia, nos vemos en Aragón”.
